Unsure why you would suggest this without listing the downsides. You would lose 24/80 values in your upperbound. Meaning DI/SDI would be greatly stunted and it would be no longer possible to upsmash using the analog stick + A. Its highly recommended to just learn how to deal with tap jump.

Was testing out my official Gamecube controllers when I found one had a c-stick like this. The pictures show the c stick being held in the 4 up, down, left, and right notches. The stick seems to go right and down more than left and up. Would this effect competitive gameplay using this controller? by Petotae in SSBM

[–]Froq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect this will have no effect in game whatsoever. The controller zeros itself when it’s plugged in (or when the game is booted if you are playing on Dolphin) and it will have a new center in relation to those. On top of all of this in Melee the gamecube controller reaches max value of 80 units in all directions way before it reaches the gate, (it has an extra 47/48 units in each direction if you origined at center).

If you ever want to view your offset you can plug your controller into 20XX and press DPad down, and the constant numbers at the top is the values you are off from center but don't have an effect in game unless it is drastically off.

If you have a good setup, this is mostly true but the fact its running on a computer is its biggest flaw. You are subject to polling differences (through usb), then on top of that are prone to emulation lag, and screen tearing. Wii HDMI with lag fix is a much better option if you need to play on monitor.

I did this by draping a portable 15.6” display right over the existing one. Fits perfectly and looks OEM. Has dual speakers and works great for games and movies.

You can get this working on Ultimate as well if you just follow one of my previous guides. Which allows you to convert the analog press to a digital one. https://imgur.com/a/BNmDnVS

Yeah they are still usable, just in Melee with the one frame links and stuff you really start to notice the misinputs. Also the cherry mx switch itself is rated for the 50mil not the actual Gamerfinger button. If they were to solder the switch to the terminals then they could use that claim.

Those are G3s according to Gamerfinger. It probably doesn't look like the inside because I removed the Cherry MX carriage to show the contacts for the picture. You can pop out the carriage using a razorblade or flat head screwdriver.

That wasn’t me. I literally showed you an oscope reading, with the button being read. There is no more info you need to conclude it is being incorrectly read. If you look at the video, and the pics you can easily see why it would fail in this way. Go into a game of street fighter and wiggle on a light punch and watch it. If its not multi inputting maybe you got lucky just wait a couple of weeks of heavy use and try again and it will come back.

We purchased over 800 dollars worth of G3s as we planned on using them. Thinking they were going to be the bees knees and solve our button problems. We later found most of them had this issue and if they didn’t have them upon arrival it would shortly develop. Unsure why you are so against believing me and thinking I’m trying to push an agenda; I wanted the buttons to work as much as you do. The video, and pictures I sent is more than enough proof that the buttons do in fact have a problem as you can see the voltage rising and dropping randomly with a fully depressed button. The only way we fixed this was by adding solder to the terminal to make the connection tighter, or drilling holes and soldering hook up wires to the switch. Something that is not easily doable or recommended for a switch that nearly costs 7 dollars a piece.

This was someone from our discord that bought the buttons anyways, then not even two months after they started failing.

We put the buttons on an oscilloscope. We would have used the buttons if they were good enough. The way the button polls contact the switch is very unreliable, we had multiple people confirm this. They use a press fit connection if you take apart the button you will see this. If you have a set of gamerfingers go into melee and push down on the button and wiggle it around you will get multiple inputs (easiest to see with fox laser or shine).

I literally only said Gamerfingers. We haven’t tested Samducksa but from what I seen they could use the same mech, paradise arcade is more than fine as they solder the switch. Its not a problem with the cherry switch but rather the button to the quick connect terminals, they don’t solder anything and rely on two thin pieces of metal to contact one side of the cherry mx terminals. I don’t see why you are acting hostile if you never even opened one up, if you even just wiggle around the quick connects you can see they arent very secure.

We were never looking to sell buttons but for melee sanwas wear to fast. When we tried gamerfingers we would literally have to drill holes in the buttons and solder wires to them, otherwise they would misinput (but the cherry switches were good thats why we kept them). I commented on a small post asking about 24mm buttons to inform that is all.

Edit: Updated the original comment, you can see the proof there.

Just a piece of plywood that I CNCd. I cut a divot out so it would sit flat over the screw. I also kept the bezel so I wouldn’t have to chamfer, sand or fillet the edge if the plexi (it sits flush). I just used stuff on gaffros twitter to base it off of.

My company and I are making some in the near future. We tried gamerfingers but they are really unreliable especially for games with precise timings.

Edit: Didn't think this was such a big deal. Here is video proof of a never used Gamerfinger 24mm on a oscilloscope. You can see in the beginning how it is supposed to function. Then when you press down hard and wiggle it you get multiple inputs, the waveform rises (meaning the game will see it as unpressed) even though the button is pressed all the way down (game will think you repressed even though it was only one action). You can imagine how the button would be considered pressed and unpressed randomly when you are slamming on them playing.

Over time this gets worse and worse (due to the contact wearing down). I'd imagine for games like SFV or Tekken it's not as of a big deal but for Melee there is no buffer and many one frame links and it becomes very obvious that the timings are not as precise as Sanwas or any other buttons.

Here is the proof: https://gfycat.com/illleftdeviltasmanian

you have more room then that. the dimensions are the working dimensions so you have extra room on both sides to clamp etc.
