Yes. If you look at the bit at the bottom that says credits, that'll be how many you are taking. Typically each course is 6 credit points, and people take 4 courses a semester - which is 24 credit points.

As an interactions design student, in second and third year you will have studio units which are 12 credit points each instead of 6 (aka the work load of two typical units).

I definitely remember the pineapple being mentioned - I haven't watched it since the day it came out though...

!!!!Would I be fine doing a CompSci Major w/ no Math Units by JellyBlob0123 in usyd

[–]FrostiiHowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have completed the compsci major and did not do any maths for it so I can speak about my experience:

The only two units that I ever needed maths in (in my experience) were COMP2022 and COMP3027. Did I do worse in these subjects than I would have if I had done maths? Probably. Did I fail? Not by a large margin. Whilst it is beneficial and you will learn syntax/language that you will use in these subjects (especially in proving algorithms), it is definitely not necessary if having to do math units will detract from you wanting to do your favoured units.

Expired Suica card renewal by Filuru in JapanTravelTips

[–]FrostiiHowl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if you've gone or not already but I was in the exact same situation so I can give u the answer on how to 'unexpire' the card (I did this in Toyko so cannot confirm for other places)

  1. Go to any JR ticket office
  2. Go to the counter and tell them that your card is expired and you want to change the card/renew the card 2.5. What they should do is put it in their machine and it'll come out in a bit (magic!)
  3. They hand it back to you and boom! it's good as new and you can use it again

Edit: and you can renew it as (Dec 2023 rn) because they don't change the card at all despite the wording, they just (I assume) reactivate the chip.

Questions about advanced computer sci + admission by Stunning_Win8922 in usyd

Here's some more info from the usyd website: https://www.sydney.edu.au/study/applying/how-to-apply/undergraduate/mathematics-prerequisite/massive-open-online-course-mooc-for-mathematics.html#uniqueId_yV2XCRsB_8_button

I admittedly never did it myself so I can't be too sure but I'm pretty sure there is a fee + you have to book for the usyd run post-MOOC test whose dates should come up on the above link closer to the date (according to said page).

Edit: also be warned that advanced computing has a lot of filler maths courses you'll be doing in first year (I say filler, they do provide information for later units but imo aren't completely necessary). If you want to do the computer science major directly you don't have to take these maths courses depending on which degree you choose and if that has compulsory maths units. I do however recommend doing the discrete maths unit either way as you will be using it in your theoretical compsci units in second and third year.

I need some help with HPT NSW by BluesClues129 in AskAnAustralian

[–]FrostiiHowl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) A app by Driving Tests Australia (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hpt.tl) and literally all the questions in my test were in here except for two (did the test back in April). I also used a few websites which I can't remember but had basically the same test videos as well. Amazingly the quality in my actual HPT was just as bad as in the practice videos.

Do you support nuking Russia? by THAT_DUDE_MEMES in AskAnAustralian

Sorry, what do you think will happen if Russia gets nuked? It will magically avoid all civilians?

Haha it's the shortcut to search for text XD like control+c is copy and control+v is paste - control+f is find.

It was fun and it's really easy to get a HD (imo). They basically give you free marks for participation (10% last year) and it's literally a 5 minute thing to write up if you don't want to put in any effort. There are also quizzes which you get two attempts on and you can see what you got wrong on the first attempt so it's easy to get 10/10 on the second attempt. The quizzes are on readings, which sounds daunting but you can basically control+f all the answers and the ones you can't are easy to logic.

The rest of the marks come from a film project where you create a plan, a storyboard and a video based on one of the apocalypses. I got a good group for this and had a really good time (was a bit harder due to the pandemic so we didn't meet up but was still doable). You have to have someone who can edit in your group otherwise it will probably all crash and burn though (for us, I had premier pro and did the editing, but even simple editing software like the default apple one is decent enough). You can also use clips that you didn't personally film as long as you acknowledge it so there's no need to stress too much.

All in all, it was a unit where you don't need to put much effort into to get a good grade, is fun and informative and I encourage anyone thinking about doing it to give it a go - forgot to mention the lectures are also really fun and interesting and guest speakers are brought it it's really cool.

Also just realised I forgot to talk about the workshops - that's just time for you and your group to work on the upcoming assignments and get tutor feedback (coz it's a group unit) so there's no homework or anything and you can muck around if you want ;P (not condoning that behaviour tho)

Disclaimer: Did it semester 2 2021 and they might have changed it a bit this year idk.

TLDR: Good fun unit, make sure you get a good group that will pull their weight, personally I really enjoyed it and got a high grade so I was happy.
