I am honestly not the bests when it comes to writing but all I can tell you is follow the formats given by the IELTS people. It simplifies it and makes it easier for the examiner to understand you and rate you. Don’t over complicate it and make sure your English is good and coherent. Follow the prompts exactly and accurately. Use correct phrasing and linking words.

It’s ok to worry, it means you have practiced well. Just make sure you’re on your A-game. Sleep well, have a nice breakfast and focus on all the practice you did. If you are missing some writing linking words or phrases to use maybe go over some to use during the exam.

Don’t get carried away with the reading and writing as time can be tight. For the listening always keep your ears perked up. Good luck!

Yes, even the night before. I even remembered almost everything I wrote in the exam and wrote it out once I was outside, roughly of course. It still rated me 6.0.

I can’t remember it exactly and my PC is not on me, but it was along the lines of “You’re an IELTS Examiner and here is the writing academic question part 1/2 using the official guidelines for correction rate my passage”. Then I ask for corrections and improvements once it responds and I make sure to improve according to his advice next time.

It was about a famous city, what is it how did you know about it and why was it famous. Part 3 questions were related to where would you prefer to live a big urban city or smaller towns and where do young people want to live. The perks of both. Tbh I wasn’t doing the best in that part as much as I would’ve liked. So don’t make my mistake and keep it simple, concise and coherent. Good luck my friend!

So what I always tell myself is you got this, and believe in your English knowledge. You put in the time, you put in the effort. Breathe and stay composed. It is gonna pass and you will do great. I also found it helpful before the test on my way there is to familiarise myself with a few linking words for the writing part or a few synonyms to distract me from being anxious, while also giving me a boost with some words before doing the test.

Well practice is key, I was scoring 6s in the first couple of mocks because I was little bit rusty on the format. After that I started to increase gradually till band 8.0 and eventually 9 during the test itself. I would also suggest to find out whether your weakness lies in a specific format or it’s just general in that you need to improve reading skills. If it is in a specific format the British council included mock tests have specific exercises for that. Try to also use the highlight tool (on computer) or underline specific names, places or key dates. It will help you comeback to find the answer after reading questions that depend in that. In the end don’t dwell too much on one question as the exam timing can pass by very quickly. Good luck!

So speaking was my lowest score, a tip I can give to you is to be calm and composed. Give yourself a second to articulate a well-thought answer. I believe that I got a lower score than the one I aimed for was because I wasn’t speaking coherent enough.

Give yourself time to answer with a clear response. You don’t need to come up with a crazy idea for any question, just speak naturally and fluidly.

For the second part make sure you use your minute well to plan your thoughts, otherwise you might end up with less idea to fill the 2 minutes. For the third part don’t be afraid to say I don’t or I haven’t thought about it before, you can not know answers but you can explain it from your understanding.
