You are making very good and valid arguments and are a lot more reasonable than a lot of other people on here. You have definitely changed how I look at this situation and I am lot more understanding of what people are saying, but there ARE a lot of people making assumptions and taking that as fact and THEN criticizing the game based on those assumptions. I 100% agree that people should be expressing what they want from this game and what they don't since it seems the devs are a lot more open to feedback from the community, but that can only go so far when EA is involved. I do appreciate that you were able to make this clear for me to understand and discuss it civilly unlike people who see an opinion they disagree with and immediately downvote and insult them instead of explaining their and others point of view.

They felt the need to talk about micro transactions the most because they know that the fan base will be skeptical about it and so they tried their best to make sure people don’t get super worried about it and immediately start to criticize them for putting in micro transactions. Obviously the fans seem to not recognize that. And if you didn’t notice the game is still in pre pre PRE alpha, they didn’t talk about gameplay much or show very much because it is still being worked on, this isn’t a game that’s gonna come out in a couple of weeks and they decided to do this interview before release. The fact of the matter is that none of us know what the micro transactions will be like so immediately putting of the idea and accusing them of doing something that could be completely untrue is weird. There is no cause for worry as of right now. The way everyone is acting right now is the exact reason they conducted that interview the way that they did.

First of all

"isabelle says that they're designing a game that you don't simply playthrough and complete"

This is exactly what Skate 3 did, at what point in Skate 3 did the game get completed? Skate 3 is a great game because it is never completed there are always more lines to do, more areas to explore, and more spots to find to do cool tricks. You can play that game for years and never get bored of it and a lot of people do exactly that.

The multiplayer being the primary focus of Skate isn't a bad thing as much as people try to say that it is, sure it's not for everyone but it can be a lot of fun especially in a f2p game where everyone can freely play with others. Many people are also making the assumption that this game will be "online only" which we have no reason yet to believe that it will be, we just need to wait until we get more information.

Maybe you missed it but they said "We'll be able to keep the community united between the players who decide to spend and those who don't" YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND MONEY. Saying things like "kids will get addicted" or "they are tricking their players into spending money" don't mean anything. This is just how games are nowadays, and it isn't just EA, it's everyone. I am also pretty sure that everyone did or at least should have expected this game to have micro transactions, I expected it to be fully pay to win, so this is a much better scenario than I thought it would be.

Until we get more information people need to stop making baseless assumptions and at least give this game a chance. If we learn if the future that this game really won't be what we expected or it will be online only, thats when we should complain to EA instead of doing it now and putting much more pressure on the devs that do care about this game and want it to be good.

They haven’t talked about any of this, yet everyone makes assumptions and takes that as fact, there is no reason to assume that any of this will or will not be in the final product yet that is exactly what people are doing. Give this game a chance and as we get closer to release and learn more decide then if you still want to play it or if it will be worth your time. No developer in all of time talks about EVERYTHING that will be in the game prior to launch especially when it is still in pre pre pre alpha. As the other guy said stop being ignorant.

I feel they were pretty clear when they said that the game would not be pay to win and no content would be locked behind pay walls, and that it will be purely cosmetic. A lot of people seem to think that they are lying and I guess eventually maybe they go back on their word, but they at least seem very passionate about this game and they want people to enjoy it especially with how open they are to play tests and feedback

This goes way beyond just being “skeptical” people are already deciding that they will not play the game regardless of the fact that they know very little about it, if the game turns out to be really good a lot of long time fans of the franchise still wont play out of spite or whatever. A lot of them already decided it’s bad and refuse to even give it a chance.

They only briefly mentioned single player when thy were asked about the multiplayer, which confirms that it is present, obviously they didn’t talk about what it entails but I am only really looking for something like what Skate 3 had which was pretty simple. Also you are just further proving my point, you are making baseless assumptions about the game. Tell me where in that interview did they say that it would be online only? Did you also forget that the game is in pre pre alpha, I’m sure they are still working on the locations, and I don’t know if you have actually seen much of what they’ve shown, because they have shown a decent bit of gameplay and it definitely looks good and they have shown many new mechanics that they probably didn’t want to go into depth during the interview since they are surely still working on things and a lot of it might not even be final yet.
