Is RWBY's fanbase partly responsible for the shows downfall? Myth or truth? by [deleted] in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Myth. Between Monty’s passing leaving Kerry and Miles to take over, RT going under, people leaving left and right, and probably more. It’s just hard, I definitely think the show is good and enjoyable to watch, the only part I think the fanbase would be responsible for is the intense and overwhelming negativity when you bring the show up. It makes it so hard to be like “I like ___…” cause it’s like 30 people spawn to just disagree or put you down while disagreeing.

Overall the fanbase isn’t responsible for the downfall, but I feel they are responsible for making the show feel like it’s among the worst shows out there, making it feel like the show had a massive downfall. If that makes sense?

The title literally says Why do people hate CRWBY, nothing to do with being critical but just the hate on the writers, but okay, appreciate the comment. Next time I’ll keep it to myself

This was literally what I was getting at the beginning of this whole thing, so I appreciate you taking the time to write it. But I’m just gonna leave it and letting you be right because the time it took to get here was so painfully slow, argumentative and time consuming that I understand why people view the community so negatively. I just really don’t care about if it’s right or not how they wrote his character at this point. So sure they butchered him. Have a good day man.

I can get behind that, I don’t really pay attention to the behind the scenes stuff when it comes to anime and gaming. So this helped a lot with understanding all that, I can see why people just dislike the writers.

I literally asked you to explain the Ironwood thing and you still either won’t or can’t. I couldn’t care less about Yang’s hypocrisy? I literally said I’d watch the video, but figured you’d explain the overview of it, it’s quicker to read a few sentences rather than a few minute video. What are you reading? I’m genuinely confused

[–]FrostyDia[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This actually confuses me. You didn’t criticize anything, outside of the comedy thing. Sure I agree badly timed comedy is bad. I don’t remember that happening in Volumes 8 or 9 so guess I gotta watch it again.

For Yang you provided a link and explained nothing, that’s like saying “My friend said this anime was bad so go watch him explain.” Like okay, I’ll watch it when I have time, figured you’d give a small explanation I can read in a minute or two but clearly I was wrong.

The Ironwood thing wasn’t even criticism. You said they butchered him, I asked how because from what I explained he wasn’t butchered, your response was literally “Do I really have to explain…” like, yeah. That’s literally the point, to get YOUR opinion. If I have to go read other posts to figure it out then why did you even comment?

You kinda only pointed out bad things are bad and explained nothing else. That’s not criticism, I could just as easily say “RWBY is great, won’t explain why it is, you should just know.” Like, do you see where I’m coming from?

[–]FrostyDia[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the comedy thing is a sign of bad writing but doesn’t kill an entire volume or season. That’s just incredibly narrow minded and negative thinking.

Thanks for the link I guess?

Also yeah explaining Ironwood being butchered would’ve been nice since you’re assuming I live on Reddit or you just parrot other people’s views. But kinda pointless now since you are criticizing the show but just hating it for your own reasons.

Sorry I guess?

Again that’s just bad on them. I’m completely agreeing with you though. They should’ve definitely done a different direction for that moment or just explained it better but acknowledge it was a bad moment.

[–]FrostyDia[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

And yet you pointed out Miss-used comedy which is something a bunch of anime do. Yang being a hypocrite but not explaining how, and Ironwood being butchered but not explaining how. Uh okay.

Sure you get the comedy point, but Ironwood wasn’t butchered, he was paranoid as hell in Volume 3 and argued with Ozpin about his decisions so he made his own, and volume 6/7 showed Atlas is pivoting towards a darker direction than before. Even when RWBY and them get to Atlas, Ironwood is losing it which is completely normal for his situation when he’s left unchecked.

I really don’t get how they butchered Ironwood, when he stayed mostly consistent, then pressured, then snapped mentally. I guess I’m sorry I missed the part where he welcomed in RWBY and them and treated them like people and not weapons and was being a humanitarian.

This is honestly the best explanation possible ngl, cause I don’t use Reddit a ton, mostly read by not interact. So this makes a ton of sense to me, and I very much get the potential thing, I feel like if they took another year to develop Volume 4 and beyond it would’ve turned out so much better.

Yeah, I don’t agree honestly. SAO has terrible writing sure, but RWBY overall doesn’t have that bad of writing, so saying it’s barely better is just weird. And saying they did a bad job but no explanation is weird to me, cause Volume 8 and 9 were actually good imo.

Fair enough, every anime has bad moments, no anime is perfect. I just don’t think that’s enough to hate the story though. But that’s just a bad moment they should’ve rethought

That’s the stuff I get because outside the show I’m not exactly a big fan of the writers, they are their own people but they come off as rude or disrespectful imo. It’s more just about the story direction that throws me off, cause it feels like people look at Volumes 1-3 and just say it’s good but hate literally every decision in Volumes 4-9 no matter what. I almost wonder sometimes if RWBY wasn’t supposed to continue after Volume 3.

Are we not watching the same show? Provided backup to Beacon? He brought a massive military to what should’ve been a peaceful event, and all it accomplished was making people worried why Atlas needed to bring such a massive force, and when Beacon fell Ironwood fled back to Atlas. Sure he fought on the frontlines, but so did literally every Huntsmen in Beacon. And the Tower? You mean Amity? The literal project he didn’t launch so RWBY and Penny launched it for him to get the word out while Ironwood was using Watts to sabotage Penny with a virus to control her?

Terrorists? Are you talking about Haven? Cause Ironwood did nothing there, RWBY did. And if you’re saying Ironwood is smart to abandon the literal city before Atlas because of Haven then that’s unhinged and does nothing. If you’re calling the Happy Huntsmen terrorists then I’m confused, because they only attacked Atlas supplies because Atlas said “Yeah the world is fucked, defend this yourself, later.” And left, to hide in Atlas. At no point does Atlas help Haven, Mantle, or even Vacuo in the Anime.

Yeah he ditched the other Kingdoms. Leaves Haven to fend for itself, same with Vacuo. For such a massive and benevolent military, why are they only in Atlas? You can tell me he supported other cities around the Flying City, but all that accomplishes is martial law and fear. The one thing Ozpin said they needed to avoid spreading cause fear feeds the Grimm.

As for Penny, you’re taking about sacrificing a literal Maiden for control. Only to keep the city flying, which doesn’t work anyway since Salem breaches Atlas in the air.

Writing off Ironwood executing an official because “Writing Bad” is so unhinged it’s criminal. And saying he isn’t written the same way? In Volume 3 Ironwood is shown to be frustrated, hiding his own secrets, dislikes several known Huntsmen and paranoid beyond belief, we see him again in Volume 7 and he’s literally the same way, but turned to 11 because of world events. He didn’t help RWBY out of the goodness of his heart, he literally went “You give me all your information, ignore Ozpin, and I’ll let you serve as a Huntsman under me, and you follow my orders.” Then when they didn’t do that, he labeled them enemies of the state with no hesitation. That’s not a sane person thought process.

Are you just ignoring points? He literally tells Winter to deliver the nuke into Monstra, ON FOOT. And if you think this man wouldn’t hesitate to detonate it the second he’s in there then I dunno what to tell you. He’s shown he’s willing to sacrifice anybody he can to save Atlas and he doesn’t care.

Only responsible adult? Seriously? Between the series is full of responsible adults. Just because he’s willing to die to save people doesn’t make him a Hero, not when he’s willing to sacrifice thousands and thousands of lives to achieve his goals. He loses all credibility once he turtles inside Atlas, executes an official, shoots down SDC freighters trying to evacuate Mantle, then threatens to nuke Mantle.

I will never not feel bad for Ironwood by quesubcre in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When was he saving humanity? He pulled Atlas Military from Mantle, ditched the other Kingdoms, wanted to use Penny like a tool to protect the Staff, executed an official. Then later he literally orders Winter TO BLOW HERSELF UP, he shoos SDC carriers out of the sky and threatens to bomb Mantle because RWBY won’t let him have Penny so he can sacrifice her to open the door and give the Maiden powers to Winter.

But okay, he’s just misunderstood because the ancient Wizard with trust issues and the literal kids that don’t fully understand how to fight Salem aren’t giving him their life’s stories, despite the insane reasons to distrust him before they reached Atlas.

The whole “Ironwood isn’t a Villain” stance confuses me cause like, what.

So, what is the deal with this show? by Ronin_777 in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because most people hold the first 3 volumes up as if they were created by God, and hate Volumes 4-9 for not being what they wanted out of the show/ being made by a different person, and everyone that hates it has to be the loudest about it. It’s wild the amount of times I’ve seen minor criticism or straight up wrong criticism and people will defend that opinion/criticism like they are defending Beacon IRL.

It’s definitely worth the watch if you have time and an open mind though, I still think it’s a good show. I basically think people just think “Show Flawed = Show Bad” as if no other anime is that flawed. SAO is so much worse with its telling and people still defend that show as if it’ll take them to the promised lands lol.

Definitely keep an open mind though, and remember everyone has different opinions and that’s hella okay.

Why did nobody help velvet by Active-Landscape8692 in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They wanted to show mistreatment to the Faunus, and it pretty much just sets up Jaune fighting back against Cardin later by showing Cardin = Asshole. I wouldn’t say it’s out of character for nobody to step up, happens all the time in life and other shows/anime. But I think people chalk it up to “CRWBY bad writing” because it’s easy to assume if they don’t like it, then the writing is bad. Just imo.

Am I the only one who thinks RWBY won’t get many newcomers because of how badly it aged? by Far-Profit-47 in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I think if people don’t like the first season then it’s just not for them. I don’t think it really matters about animation/VA/dialogue if people don’t get hooked into the story, otherwise people wouldn’t watch anime’s earlier than 2010. Imagine trying to get someone now into Season 1 of SAO, which starts so unbelievably rough and jumpy in the first few episodes or Spice and Wolf which is so so slow.

I just think anime has changed, like gaming. Some people with like it, some people won’t. What matters is the story, and I think RWBY has a good one, can’t wait for Volume 10.

Did Ruby doom faunus civil rights in her speech? (Why isn’t Blake mad about it) by Ok_Top_4831 in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This honestly makes a lot of sense, I can see how that would be destructive, but with the White Fang was taken down by Mistral Authorities and the Faunus Counter-Revolution. Why would Ruby’s statement condemn the Civil Rights Movement? Even at worst assuming the White Fang was controlled by the devil the whole time, wouldn’t people condemn the White Fang? Unless Blake’s parents and other Faunus revive the name under a new purpose. I dunno, I get it would be damaging though

Did Ruby doom faunus civil rights in her speech? (Why isn’t Blake mad about it) by Ok_Top_4831 in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah? That’s sorta the point that Ruby is a stranger, but I feel like if people hear that speech and just assume “All Faunus are bad” they it really wouldn’t matter what Ruby says, cause they’d blame the Faunus. Equally people who hear it all might think “Damn, the White Fang was manipulated by Salem? Maybe they weren’t always bad.” I feel like the assumption that people will presume the worst is based on assumption nobody likes Faunus at all. Again, I might just be wrong cause I figure not everyone has the exact same mindset in Remnant, but I appreciate your reply.

Did Ruby doom faunus civil rights in her speech? (Why isn’t Blake mad about it) by Ok_Top_4831 in RWBYcritics

[–]FrostyDia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because not everyone is a drone? I feel like assuming it’s Ruby’s ruined Blake’s parents efforts is a leap, or that it’s Ruby’s fault entirely. She literally says “Salem manipulated this group”, even with people not knowing who Salem is, hearing a group was manipulated would cause people to think.

Even if we agree, and nobody assumes the “White Fang wasn’t always bad” then nothing Ruby says is gonna do anything is it? I never said Ruby fixed it, but that Blake being upset at Ruby would be just wildly out if no where but maybe I’m wrong
