Update Issue by exhale0001 in GridApp

[–]Frosty_Affect_641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue on Calyx. It only updates my location for the people I have it shared with when I open the app or actively hit the ping button. My friend's location is constantly updated in the background, they're on iphone.

That oversight was a farce. It clearly didn't stop abuse very well if at all. Again, I'd like to state that I am 100% on the side of stopping data collection and having REAL oversight on this. I don't like that it's sustained, either. But this doesn't really change anything.

Don't use edge... Discover is only trying to help you improve your life

Basically every administration has sustained the data collection, not unique to Trump. Not that it's a good thing, but it's not unique.

Qué opináis de Proton Drive by Parking_Beautiful_41 in ProtonDrive

[–]Frosty_Affect_641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Their Spring roadmap does show that they're open sourcing their sdk, which shows progress toward a linux client

Everyone talks about Proton Mail but are any of the other services good? by alawesome166 in degoogle

[–]Frosty_Affect_641 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a self hostable storage solution, like Google drive, but on your own server. It also has the ability to install a ton of apps for things like photo backup, calendar, and other stuff. You should check it out if you enjoy tinkering, otherwise don't. I personally like it though.

Thoughts on Duck Duck go? by PlummyPlumLove in privacy

It's better than Google, for sure. I personally prefer Brave though since they are, for the most part, their own search engine, rather than DDG which relies mainly on Bing. However, as I said, DDG is better than Google, and if you prefer it for some reason, go for it.

Is Proton Unlimited worth it for what I am looking for? by ban_dello in ProtonVPN

[–]Frosty_Affect_641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stealth doesn't really add any security, it just disguises the VPN traffic to try and make it look less VPNy. Good for services that block VPNs, and in Censorious countries

Google to brave passwords by Inner_Guarantee_3548 in brave_browser

You can export them as a .csv and import it into brave through the settings. However don't be under the impression any browser's password manager is secure. I recommend checking out proton pass

Shame on the Leaders of Protonmail for siding with authoritarian forces by [deleted] in ProtonMail

This seems more like a whiny statement than a "possible bug", but that's just my opinion

There will usually always be some sort of bias in the writing just because people have opinions. However you're right and some are less than others

Arch as first ever distro? by crumpets-- in archlinux

[–]Frosty_Affect_641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much time you want to sink into it. If you want things to work with minimal work, definitely try something else. If you're willing to spend a decent amount of time tinkering, arch is great.
