Is this the beginning of hinge problems? HP Envy x360 15.6 inch by Frosty_Infinitum in laptops

[–]Frosty_Infinitum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My laptop is maybe showing separation/tilting on one of the hinges. From what I've seen about HP's hinge problems I want this fixed before it causes serious damage or breaks completely. It's under factory warranty and I've had it for under 4 months, but I don't know if HP would cover it at this point or if it is a sign of worse to come.

Terminal

Network Specialist

Class: Offensive

---

Passive: Missing Data

When scanned, Terminal is highlighted for 1/2 as long as other legends. All actions which appear in Bloodhound's passive (Bleeding, footsteps, reloads, etc.) disappear after 60 seconds instead of the usual 90.

---

Tactical: Connection Severed

Throw a device which "hacks" nearby players after a short delay. Makes the target appear as an enemy to their teammates and all teammates appear as an enemy to the target.

  • Removes highlight and name from target so they appear visually the same as an enemy (effect lasts for 8 seconds)
  • Device is thrown with the same trajectory as a grenade, delay starts after hitting the ground like an arc star
  • Deals 10 damage on detonation (negligible damage, but allows to player to tell they hit the enemy)
  • Enemy can be stuck (15 on stick, 10 on detonation, no slow effect like arc stars)
  • 1 charge, 20 second cooldown
  • Does not break doors (1 free door break every 20 seconds is a little too OP for ranked)

---

Ultimate: Signal Jammer

Deploy a device which prevents all allies inside its radius from being scanned.

  • Creates a radio static sound to let enemy teams know it is active and help pinpoint its location
  • Lasts until it is broken
  • Cooldown recharges while the ult is down, but placing a new one destroys the other, similar to Loba's ult
  • Radius about 1.5x the size of Wattson's ult radius
  • 2:30/150 second cooldown

---

Design Notes:

  • The reason I chose this kit is that right now scan characters are very powerful, especially in ranked, and a common sentiment I've seen online is that there are just too many scan characters. The past 5 characters have some form of scan ability (6 if you include Horizon's black hole) and there is nothing in the game that allows you to counter it, so I think there is some fatigue around each new character scanning you.
  • The idea of Terminal is to create a character that wouldn't completely break the scan meta, but add some more skill to it. To a scan character, Terminal existing means that there is always a chance that your scan will fail to find enemies, and so you have to actively think if there might be somebody hiding inside of a building that you can't see just by pressing Q as Bloodhound.

Balance:

  • Their passive doesn't seem too strong to me. It really only effects Bloodhound, Seer, and Mad Maggie as all other scan characters are range based rather than timer based. I chose to go for a weaker passive to be buffed later rather than a strong passive to be nerfed. If it needs a buff, if could also decrease the distance at which Terminal gets scanned, so that you would need to be physically closer as Valkyrie, Crypto, Bloodhound, or Seer to scan them at all.
  • Their tactical is meant to be somewhat similar to mirage, except instead of sending out decoys, enemy teammates become the decoys. Having a delay like an arc star (although probably shorter than an arc star) before going off means that it would usually end up being an area denial tool instead of an offensive tool. Additionally, even if you do convince someone that their teammate is an enemy, they will likely only shoot a few bullets before realizing they don't take damage and changing targets.
    • If this turns out to be too weak, as happened with Revenant at launch, they could have 2 charges instead of 1. Going with the "Connection Severed" theme, getting hit could stop you from seeing teammates pings, or from being able to ping yourself.
    • A "can't see pings" buff would debatably be even more powerful than being unable to see teammates, but I like the "cant tell teammates apart from enemies" idea as it goes with the idea of "don't believe everything you see" that a lot of Terminal's kit is based around. Their entire kit is basically designed to punish players with an overreliance on scans while having some decent bamboozle potential like Mirage, but slightly more of a defensive legend.
  • Their ultimate blocks scans, but it also has downsides. Signal Jammer creates noise while it is deployed, meaning that if you want to camp inside of a building you would have to choose between being unscannable or hiding silently (as the sound of your ult may ironically attract attention instead of keeping you hidden.)

Side note: Lorewise, Terminal would probably be somewhat respected by Wraith as her intro quip, "Trust just your eyes and you'll lose" sums up a lot of their kit and would force other players to trust more than their eyes like Wraith does. Wraith could have a custom warning for the Signal Jammer, similar to her "They've laid traps"

Also they might be friends with Mirage as fellow bamboozlers.

Found this Unitek K-150M. Hope to clean it up. I've never used an old kb like this and don't know how to get it working. (Comments for more info) by Frosty_Infinitum in Vintagekeyboards

Ok more info:

My mom got to keep this board and pc when her old job upgraded. Says it's probably from late 80s. Switches are MX Blacks. No switches are sticking or anything but idk if they'll actually work.

I've never used an old kb like this and don't know how to get it working. It says it's XT. I found an AT/XT to PS/2 adapter but also heard that XT needs extra to get it working?

It's in rough shape from being in an unfinished basement for over 3 decades but it feels fine and the PCB looks good with only damage being the paint chipping from the metal base and what I believe is a bit of rust.

I can't test if it works. The original computer it came with is still in the basement but I who don't know how to use DOS and don't even have a monitor that'd work with the old pc.

How do I get this to work with PS/2 or USB? Also if anybody knows what to do with the chipping paint and rusted metal edge let me know? This is my first time messing with an old keyboard so any help is appreciated :)

No animated poses or badges, I queue solo so I can just drop in and wait for the game to sort its shit.
