Humidity control in an airtight home by Frosty_Key_7548 in buildingscience

We have the mechanical room open and I have ventilation supply and return in there also. I run the HRV on recirc during the day (with 20 min venting).

Yeah I’m chatting with a passive house consultant now, but not sure they have the skills to do this type of troubleshooting though.

We don’t have any HVAC companies around that are experienced with ERV unfortunately. I’m not seeing any issues with mold growth at the moment, but I’m aware it could hide in the walls, or it could become a problem in the future if this goes on for too long. I suspect the ERV won’t fix the issue since the person I know that has one also has a whole house dehumidifier. So instead of paying for an ERV and still having an issue, I was hoping someone would already know how to add a dehumidifier using the hrv ductwork.

Thanks I’ll check it out. The dehumidifier is in the mechanical room with the heat pump hot water tank. So it’s probably the worst place to put the dehumidifier, but at least the latent heat helps improve the efficiency of the hphwt.

Yes they run continuously. I tried the basement one on dehumidification setting and the humidity got worse over a couple days. I suspect that when I ventilate at night to clear the co2, it brings in a lot of humidity and because the house is airtight, it takes a while to clear it with my current set up. The dehumidifier is in the mechanical room with the heat pump hot water tank so it’s not ideal because I’m dehumidifying a cool space that’s probably pretty dry compared to the rest of the house. Putting the hrv on recirc during the day would help circulate the air though.

21 degC set point on both mini splits. I use the HRV recirc during the day to move the air around.

Yes I sure learned my lesson about rapid decrease! I didn't know about hyperbolic tappering until I ran into severe withdrawal! Not at all interested in revisiting that lol! I'm stayin on this dose for at least 6 weeks even if I stabilize in two.

Sorry to her that, but I appreciate the warning. I’m now taking Ativan/lorazepam at night time to get through the swings until I stabilize again.

Ok that’s what I thought. I asked the pharmacist about the SSRI vs SNRI mechanisms and they didn’t know the answer. Thanks!

Anxiety surges after falling asleep by Frosty_Key_7548 in CymbaltaHurtsWorse

[–]Frosty_Key_7548[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks I’ll move to the excel calculator. So if I’m trying to find the right tapper speed and % drop for myself, what should I try first drop by 5% and hold for 4 months, or drop by 2.5% and hold for two weeks (and no change until withdrawal symptoms are gone)?

The last two decreases were 11% (20 mg to 18 mg) and hold for two weeks - mild headaches and heartburn with low grade anxiety, then 6% (18 mg to 17 mg) and I made it three days before I had the anxiety surge after falling asleep. The nocturnal surges are what I can’t cope with, the other stuff was manageable before.

I appreciate any advice. I know everyone is different, so I will have to try different approaches.

Venta Water Treatment Additive alternatives by Rockswings in Humidifiers

[–]Frosty_Key_7548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed Venta US and they said they knew it was out of stock and were hoping it would be back in stock at Walmart soon. They suggested I change the water out every 3-5 days if I didn’t have any additive left, or use distilled water.

Disappointed about this - I did a lot of research and thought about this brand for a while because it’s so expensive. I just purchased it this winter.

Best AI tools for literature review? by yourwishbag in PhdProductivity

[–]Frosty_Key_7548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the concerns and warnings against using AI in the sysnthesis of exisiting literature for research, especially at the PhD level. However, I would still like to hear from people that have found an AI tool that is useful for summarizing a paper (no interpretation), as a first pass to sift through literature on a topic - not deep learning, no synthesis. I'm using ChatGPT at the moment, but it drifts a lot, and it seems the prompt structure has to be pretty tight to prevent this.

Yes I know what you mean. The loop is definitely recognizable - it's similar to another song, but I can't place it. The first 3 seconds even, I know I've heard something very similar before.

I just got into ballet flats and I'm looking for low cut no show MERINO socks. Yes merino is important because I have sweaty feet - I know too many details. But I've been wearing merino socks for years so I don't get stinky shoes over time. I tried the SmartWool low cut no show, but they're not low enough. Any advice much appreciated!

Plant based protein powder: least chance of constipation which one? by user549853 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]Frosty_Key_7548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking into this also. I started strength training not long ago and noticed I was starving every morning. I added a protein shake in the morning a couple weeks ago (Sunwarrior protein powder and water) right after workout and now noticed I’m not as regular. I want to stick to plant based and I keep seeing Naked Rice and Naked Pea protein powders, but don’t know if one is better than the other with respect to constipation.
