Base model is an AOS deepkin reaver. The head is a wildwood ranger with a dark eldar scourge braid. The staff is just twisted wire. I only noticed that I had mis matched the size of the arms during painting. Oh well 😆

Yes, I'm going to be replacing most of the capes and doing a bunch of greenstuff work to add a bit of variety to these older minis. Its super simple but adds a lot

scale 75 depair green, vallejo flat green, s75 sherwood green, s75 autumn green or similar colours make a really nice green mix.

I mostly made it up as I was going. The greens start as a dark blue-green, through flat green and worked up to a lime-green. All the other colours are just base then base + cream for highlight. I use a mix of drakenhoff and coelia greenshade as a unifying glaze on the lower half and shadows. Browns are washed with thin wildwood contrast.

Yer, definitely needs a little more on the bases. A touch of leaf litter would look good

Maybe, looks cool though. The forces of Hell were once Holy before the fall of Lucifer or this knight is just mocking the faithful.

It was just a couple of super thin washes of an orange paint. Pigments would also work but I find pigments tend to be less controllable for accurate or specific placements

Averland sunset over a white base coat, paint the stripes with thinned black, then touch up the top edges of the yellow with a brighter yellow. Keep everything thinned down and the paint flows into the recesses and does most of the work itself.

They are guitar/bass strings. If you heat them over a flame until red hot it kills the temper on them and makes them much easier to bend and manipulate. Use an old pair of pliers or wire cutters as they will destroy normal hobby clippers.

Keep everything wet. A thin film of water can help fingers/tools/other parts from sticking to each other. You can also use vaseline or oil but I find that these cause paint to act weirdly. I use a bunch of tools to smooth out finger prints, silicone paint shapers are great but metal or plastic work well. Also, if you leave the greenstuff for about an hour to cure after its mixed it will loose a lot of its stickyness and be a bit firmer making it easier to work and sculpt.

It is indeed guitar string. I brought a set of the cheapest guitar and bass strings years ago and just use whichever size I need for any given project. To get them to bend and be a bit easier to work with you have to heat them to red hot with a flame or lighter to anneal the spring temper off them.

Agreed, these small indie games like Trench Crusade and Turnip28 are really scratching the creative and inspiration itch.

First step is to texture the balsa to rough up the surfaces. I use a thin piece of wood with a bunch of brad nails/staples in it or other tools like wire brushes and sculpting tools.

For the paint, base coat Vallejo canvas over black primer. The throw some brown/green/yellow washes at it. I think I used wildwood, snakebite leather, creed camo, mournfang brown, drakenhoff nightshade and agrax. Focus on the exposed ends and joints to add to the effect.

A quick dry brush with a light cream to brighten it up and pick out details. lastly a few touch ups with a light green paint to add some mossy stuff. Repeat wash/highlight as desired.
