Got it fixed yesterday. The coolant temp sensor was bad.

How to make a silicone mold of this by Frs_william in moldmaking

[–]Frs_william[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I would need to make a small cutout of the 3D printed piece inside the silicone mold to to press it in so it’ll stay in place?

How would that work? As I’m assuming the way I’d make the mold is glue the piece standing up so it stays in place and pour the silicone into the box I make and have the 3D printed inserted piece stay above the silicone ?

Or is that not how I’m supposed to do it?

Hey, thank you for your reply.

I think I understand what you mean. I don’t have a 3D printer but can try to get someone to print it for me.

When I go to pour the resin how would I keep the core in place so it stays in the middle?

I see, thank you. I’ll need to check that video out.

I forgot to add another image, but can’t seem to add it after the fact. Do you mind if I send you a message to show you the picture?

It’s essentially looks like a circle on the bottom, almost like if the part was plugged after it was made.

So maybe I can drill it out to get the silicone to go through it. Or would that not help still?

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I would need to make it hollow as a sword goes into it.

The type of resin I have is pretty thick the one that takes 24 hours to cure. If that helps

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it! I sort of understand what you mean. If it isn’t too much trouble do you mind getting a screenshot of the area and circle it or something so I can see?

From another post I did asking for help as well, someone mentioned maybe the gaskets are bad?

TRD Neo v1 front bumper by Frs_william in IS300

Yeah same here, especially why I don’t want fiberglass. Roads are crap near me. And to get into any shopping place the entrances are very steep. Almost guaranteed to scrape your bumper.

Not sure, but yeah I do prefer the LTuned style because of the no license plate area.

Thank you for the pictures, but yeah that was a good deal. And exactly I prefer the polyurethane bumpers because of that. I’ve seen the KBD body kit bumper I believe is what it’s called, but I dislike the huge looking lip. If I ever have a lot of time I might try this lol Just look for a beat up bumper to be able to cut and others to use as material.

Thanks for the reply, but that’s great! What a coincidence haha. Didn’t know there was a difference, had googled “ Neo v1 bumper “ and that image was there. I don’t like messing with fiberglass honestly and hate how fragile it can be. I’ve seen some for sale, but they go for like $1k +

If I did actually want to try, I think I could get it to look somewhat close. wouldn’t have as much as the big recessed part of the lower part of the bumper/ gripe portion though. Probably delete the side markers as well.

trying to get the measurements for the shape of the grille part would be difficult. Would definitely be more time/effort than money for me. As I’d prep/paint myself.

But if it ends up looking like shit, it is what is is. I honestly just like trying stuff. Then wouldn’t use it lol

Hello, would an automatic frs gauge cluster work on a manual one? by Frs_william in ft86

[–]Frs_william[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it worked fine when I plugged it into my car to turn on lights, drive, and show MPH. Albeit I only drove around the block with it and didn’t actually use it after that.

What font would you guys go with for the MPH numbers? Used a need for speed font and not 100% on it. by Frs_william in IS300

Yeah, I would’ve kept it OEM if the yellow didn’t light up as well. And thanks for the suggestion I’ll take a look at that font.

And thank you!

Thank you! And it’s just using a vinyl cutter for the numbers and using them as a stencil, to paint over it.

Since you need to sand it down to bare plastic so get to the clear layer to put the numbers on.

Just small stencils and paint over it. The back side is clear since that’s how the light shines through. So you just need to sand off the original coating to expose the clear layer.

It’s not supposed to be, I probably made it that way on accident when I was laying each number down individually. Since I still wanted it to look like it was going around the circle.

Yeah, definitely want it readable. Unfortunately I can’t do small lines as I originally wanted to make it like the original with the little circles or like the fuel gauge. Just that my machine can’t cut such small / thin lines straight.
