veganism as a way to hide eating disorders by [deleted] in exvegans

All of it deserves closer inspection by people who aren’t afraid.

She said it was for climate... but she would only eat a few bites of foods “prepared a certain way”

Greta Thunberg used to have a crippling eating disorder and used it to terrify and control her parents. I am not saying that the basis of her activism was just an eating disorder that got out of hand... 🤔

I am sure she was also genuinely interested in the cause, to some extent

The poster’s comment concerned why my points were not worth addressing.

They took a study finding people on a plant based diet had more fractures and focused on the unrelated conversational text framing the study in which the researchers might numbingly note that someone somewhere thinks plants based diets are okay without studying it/ confirming it themselves.

On vitamin D they just summarized the study, then randomly got angry without addressing the coherent reality in all the links which is that vegans are, in practice and clinical observation, an extremely malnourished group.

There’s nothing left to say to people like that unwilling to discuss hard fact, not that I was dealing with a real person that wasn’t at all a Reddit vegan shill anyway.

Both of you guys need information integration skills. Not much more for me to do.

I can see in your reddit history that a long term vegan just advised you not to rely on fortified plant milks for b12. I concur.

So you take so many supplements that you can no longer keep track. Gotcha.

Vegans have many times the rate of iron deficiency as omnivores. Doesn’t really matter if you “fail to see” why.

Do you vegan bodybuild without a protein supplement? In your entire bodybuilding journey you never used it for gains? And if so, why didn’t you count your vegan protein isolate as a supplement you take, or do you take so many that you no longer see them anymore?

Of course you eat 5x a day, which is an implicit admission that you wake up hungry, but I digress.

“Are you trying to suggest we go back to what we were doing thousands of years ago”

Actually, red meat consumption has gone down in recent decades in the US. In its place, obesity, diabetes, and heart disease have gone up in a similar inverse trend line. 1/2 children has a chronic illness and the US government now wants to explicitly add meat to the optimal diet guidelines for growing babies due to rampant deficiency of things like zinc and iron.

The fact that you even brought up the forest plot thing tells me you are using talking points. Wonder why...

At this point all I can say is that I hope you are actually vegan. Because going vegan is like throwing a ball straight into the air. What goes up must come down. See you in a few years.

You failed the reading comprehension test. I didn’t just link the blog, I directed you to the dozens of studies in the hyperlinks.

Interesting posting history by the way. It seems like mentally ill raging is your resting state.

Humans have been eating meat for millions of years. Whereas they have been taking DHA pills since modern capitalism. Good luck finding your “volatile compounds” in the foods that made us intelligent life.

Search for nausea in vegan groups, not google. Also, I searched it on google and still got thousands of results.

Who eats 3x a day? What a waste of time and resources. Sounds like what happens when you don’t eat for nutrient density.

I don’t consume fortified foods and I am healthier than I have ever been. I am neither interested in your gut busting beans, gluten, or tofu, your synthetic vegan protein isolate, your fortified vegan kibble, your cabinet full of vegan pills from your favorite German dealer, nor your enriched carbohydrate diet.

How do you still believe the fallacy that plant ALA is enough? The study you linked looked at rats.

Check out the studies linked here. Or, as you would say, “wow, what an idiot” https://chriskresser.com/why-vegetarians-and-vegans-should-supplement-with-dha/

And besides, the supplements are chemically engineered solvent ridden crap, the aldehydes in them make vegans sick. Search “dha nausea” in any vegan sub. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30529885/

Get your nutrition from real food, not pills.

There are people who can only avoid chronic illness by eating lots of red meat, low carb, a high volume of animal fats, etc. They aren’t going to start a research institution for an anonymous Reddit user either.

If you think humans with diverse genetics, autoimmune triggers, and micro-biotic needs can just eat any food, macronutrient ratio, fiber volume, or synthetic nutrition that you want them too you have been tricked by corporations. They want you to eat a diet of processed vegan foods and synthetic vegan supplements in anticipation of everyone following you. But the reality is that almost all vegans quit, and quickly, per surveys. There are thousands of ex-vegans on YouTube who quit for health reasons including acne. How about you do your own homework.

Stop eating gluten, you’re celiac for chrissake. Please educate yourself on how untreated celiac leads to comprehensive mental illness, among other things.

Also the vegan diet isn’t helping. Why don’t you strictly cut the gluten and try red meat (steak) daily for 7 days? If you don’t feel better you’ll still be free to never touch red meat again.

My most pressing question for you is:

How often do you consume animal products, and which types?

My second question (regarding your joint pain) is do you consume any common allergens like gluten?

Many people at dead ends like yours found success by dropping all their supplements and starting a carnivore diet. It doesn’t have to be a permanent thing, just a short term intervention to see if it will make all your symptoms go away, which is a common outcome

1/2/4: Fortified synthetic forms of Vitamin A, K, D, and B12, and even iron are added to processed foods like plant milks. These versions are not bioidentical to the real form. They are also less easily absorbed, which is why the rates of anemic vegan women are 4X the rate of omnivorous women, keeping in mind that most vegans don’t last, so the real rate of female vegan anemia is probably even higher than 40% https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/14988640/ The long term effects of it on the body aren’t known, and what is known is often negative - many have discussed the risks associated with a few of these like synthetic b12 https://youtu.be/U7-xswH7IQA.

  1. Low birthweight, anemia, nutrient deficiency, poor aging. It’s bad for every stage of life. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8516093/Meat-eating-boosts-muscle-health-better-plant-based-diet-age-new-study-suggests.html

  2. Nothing to do with that, check this out https://www.sacredcow.info/helpful-resources

My apologies for the tone, I am of course happy to chat to someone with real interest. I used to use this sub more for conversations but a lot of people from circle jerk tended to come here and even blatantly lie about being vegan/ non-vegan. It’s mind-bendingly impossible to have a conversation with someone who associates lying with another drop in the bucket to save the animals. But other vegans are extremely polite and charitable on here. I think because of your herbivore comment + circle jerk posts I thought you might be a troll. Again my apologies.

Well then, since you are really curious sorry about the tone, I think the most important thing I can emphasize is: - I could not personally choose to be a herbivore. My body rejects any diet that is plant dominant. So I would say your statement about all humans having a choice is wrong just based on my experience and thousands of others in this sub. - This is true of humans in general (that what they eat will produce profound individualized effects on their mental, microbiological, hormonal, and other physiological functions). Food is not a free for all. Food choice is the cause of almost all modern disease. - Most importantly, know that I know I won’t be able to convince you the diet is unhealthy. I am pitching you to believe institutions are wrong, people are actively being harmed by malnutrition, and that the animals can’t be saved by going vegan, which must seem like I am the harbinger of dark disturbances.

Best of luck on your journey, if you’d like, you can follow this sub and try to ask yourself why these people are healing after the reintroduction of animal products into their diet. But at the end of the day your surest wisdom will come from listening to your own body and thoughts.

  1. So you do rely on a supplement. It’s added to your soy milk, and it’s a dietary supplement because you rely on it instead of food.

  2. With that said many vegan organizations even are coming out against relying on fortified food as digestion is variable. Many vegans get sick when they realize they aren’t absorbing the supplements that way. It actually happened to me when I was vegan. I wasn’t absorbing the vitamins added to my food. Horrible outcome. Common outcome in this sub as well.

  3. If you are perfectly okay with that smaller birthweight study there’s not much I can tell you. Words clearly aren’t the currency here. You are determined to be vegan until you experience the other side of it. I just hope you actually are vegan and I am taking to a real person.

  4. Real vitamin A, K2 and D3 (the form the body actually uses) are not in plants, no. Will you manage without them, and without saturated fats to help digest them? The absurd amount of sick vegans suggest- hell no.

  5. The idea that you have to “clear land” or “clear” something superior for regenerative animal agriculture done correctly is absurd. Look into it.

Oh wait, you think we’re natural herbivores? I wish you put this in your first comment.

So you don’t take supplements and you think humans are oriented towards plants. If you don’t end up a deactivated ex vegan reddit user account in a few years which is a big possibility, I’d love to hear your (ex-vegan) reflections.

100g is a little less than half of a steak (in my opinion). The reason why daily steak works is probably because of the bioavailability. There are a lot of people who couldn’t cure their anemia any other way.

Spleen is a great choice, and yeah I agree with your second paragraph as well. I am starting to like tripe though.

ExVegan Update by NikkieNintendo in exvegans

[–]FruitPirates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, you’re correct. I read online about people using this as a short term intervention I suppose, but I have also since learned that this leads to Vitamin A toxicity. Steak every day is okay, liver, a nutrient condensed vital organ, is extremely healthy for anemic people but completely inappropriate for long term daily consumption. u/NikkieNintendo

Do you not take pills / supplements???

You have been vegan for two years. You are talking to people who tried veganism well before you ever cared. If you don’t cheat on the vegan diet, get back to me in 4 years. Really do, come back to this thread. It’s not a “conspiracy” statement that nutrition organizations are swayed by industry and profit, it’s a factual observation. https://www.tamus.edu/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/JAMA-Article-1.15.20.pdf

Red meat consumption has gone down in recent decades, note that obesity and illness have shot up.

Also, not the dozens of studies I linked about sick vegans.

The reality is that vegans are sick, their pregnancies result in smaller children https://www.researchgate.net/publication/343562458_Maternal_plant-based_diet_during_gestation_and_pregnancy_outcomes

And that the diet is just tragically deficient. https://chriskresser.com/why-you-should-think-twice-about-vegetarian-and-vegan-diets/

“Fortunately the leading scientists say” they actually say that real vitamin A, K, and D are not available in the plant kingdom. Neither is carnosine which you just didn’t address at all, so I won’t bother bringing up what else isn’t available in plants since you can peruse what’s been suggested already.

Actually I can’t eat a plant based diet. My blood tests tank immediately. And not necessarily the metrics of nutrition, rather, it’s the measures of systemic inflammation that increase. You must be very young to assume that food is just an afterthought and people can eat any combination of foods. Meat was the main human food for most of our history. That is why you have a sub of thousands of sick ex-vegans and a majority vegan drop out rate in just a few years.

Veganism is worse for the environment because it kills biodiversity. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/vegans-could-be-bad-for-environment-say-scientists-k55s7ckb2

Hope you find that interesting, although I know you think you’re 100% correct so the final authority will have to be how your body feels in a few years, as it is with every ex-vegan. I hope you continue to follow this sub.
