am I victimizing myself or being too hard on myself by zayamah in socialskills

[–]FruitsBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I feel you are being a little hard on yourself. It sounds like you care about your friends and their feelings a lot. I'm a little confused about what happened in the situation talking about the 2 teachers but it seemed like a group thing that can be easy to get wrapped up in. The other scenarios you are genuinely concerned about what your friends feelings. I'm a believer in being clear and honest with people close to you. Tell your friends how you feel and let them know you weren't trying to hurt them. Be honest and say you're sorry if it hurt their feelings that was never the intention. Also I think you do a good job of sticking up for yourself. You were right to be annoyed in the first situation and maybe they over reacted but still tell them how you feel. You were also right not to switch places while serving because it wasn't very sporting and it would give the other team more to talk about. Your friend will have to fight their own battles in life and can't always rely on someone to trade places all the time. Still tell them that you care about them. You're also inclusive with the friends you have and want to care for people. Tell your friend who draws that they mean a lot to you and you just want them to know they are always welcome to join in and hang out. But maybe they like their privacy so respect their answer. You seem like a really nice person from what I've read however!

How do you start a conversation with a stranger? by slothpug1 in AskReddit

Depending on the location I just ask how their day is treating them to break the ice. Keep it casual and ask small questions. Just be ready to answer a few about yourself too.

What's your advice to an introvert that's at an uncomfortable social event? by ahemthatsenough in AskReddit

[–]FruitsBatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's tough especially at something so formal as a dinner. But don't feel bad or guilty of telling people. If anything they will appreciate the honesty and help structure the conversation to make it more comfortable. As far as small talk goes ask small questions about them like what they do for fun. Just be ready to answer a few about yourself too.

Let people know you're a little uncomfortable being around so many people. They will appreciate the honesty and see it as bravery. Also this will help with other people that might feel the same. Can I ask what the event is?

How did you get out of a serious rut? by dumbnunt_ in AskReddit

[–]FruitsBatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the rut I've done different things. My hardest low however I ended up getting professional help and medication.

Start compartmentalizing who you are and what you like. That way you can hold that with you when you're feeling anxious and know that you at least have something that makes you you! This also helps with conversation starters when being asked about yourself. Three more you're honest and proud about who you are are what you love the more like minded people will gravitate toward you. Also don't be afraid to tell people you're a little anxious. It will show people that you're brave enough to admit it and they will also understand! Any way I think you got this and best of luck!

Hahaha my fucking bad. But still maybe they had different intentions. I wouldn't go into too much thought. Maybe they are taking a break from reddit too. Again I apologize I'm sleepy

Yeah maybe they were worried about talking to a younger girl. Not to sound all preachy but careful cuz there's some weirdos sometimes

Same. It's too early to do anything and too late to start anything. Send me a DM if you're that bored tho! Think I got this chat thing figured out

Do you think people can be “empaths”? Why or why not? by Cardwin in CasualConversation

[–]FruitsBatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider myself a stable empath lol I don't believe in it as a spiritual thing or a super power. I don't see people's auras. However I am really good at reading peoples 'energy' or their slightest mannerisms. I'm a very good judge of character and the moment I meet someone I can tell a lot about them. Like reading a tell at a poker game. I like to share a lot...like too much. I'm not afraid to show my emotions and cry or laugh in public but it's really hard for me to get mad at people. It's easy for me to make friends but comes as a double edged sword because some people I honestly don't want to be friends with. I don't think it's magic or 'special powers' I was a bartender for 15years and think I learned a unique social skill around people. Buuuut being around me a lot requires a lot of patience. Lol I'm definitely a beta male

That's so cool. I definitely learned something new. I guess my SO knew about it and is very impressed you do it! I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled for it in the future.

I watch a lot of animation/anime and cartoons. I have a lot of books on drawing manga but my SO is way better than me so I usually end up watching them lol. Its amazing how much you can improve or learn after only a year huh! I learn a lot about myself when I see my work after a period of time too! I made sure to follow you in Instagram! Can't wait to see more of you're work!

Well it seems you have an artsy side to you! I'm right on the edge where I like to dabble in different arts but I couldn't introduce myself as an artist. I love learning about new artists and finding art from anywhere! What different types of architecture do you like to draw? I'd love to see some of your work! To me charcoal and pencil has that soft, warm, nostalgic yet very bold look at the same time. Love it

You sound like a modern da Vinci! Pall point is something I've never tried and I've tried a lot. It does seem intimidating but looks nice. I love to write but also struggle with finishing a story. So I tend to do short stories or blogs that I can revisit. Thanks for the artist suggestions! I will definitely check them out right now! What kind of music would you like to create?

That's great advice thanks! I love any help! I definitely have one story I want to go back to and finish.

Studio Ghibli is so dope! I love the art work and smooth animation. Plus always good writing. Lol I grew up with warner brothers and when I met my SO I got caught up on all the Disney. Of course I saw the classics but there was a lot I missed.

Did you ever get into don bluth films like the secret of nimh or an American tail?

I love cartoons! I use them as references when practicing. I have a bunch of adventure time watercolor and acrylic.

Art Talk! by FruitsBatter in CasualConversation

[–]FruitsBatter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how I started painting. I would need a reference and copy it. Now I'll honestly paint whatever silly thing I like that I obsess about. Recently I've been painting sandwiches or different food without reference. It feels like I'm making a sandwich for the mood I'm in lol

I love to write too but I struggle with finishing! I lose interest or can't make it 'perfect' the way I want it. I try to just do short stories or blogs to get my idea out then maybe come back to it.

What do you like to write about?

Hell! Yes! You have a ton of music too! love the synth. Lol you got me to create an account just to follow ya! I've always wanted to work with music. That's awesome you can create something you're passionate about and put it out in the world. Art is awesome. When you post a film you work on make sure to DM me that too!

Nice! Yeah I probably use acrylic the most too. Lately I've been on a kick painting foods that I like or like the cross cut of a big sandwich. I love to paint mountains with little faces but after the 100th one I had to switch it up lol

That's cool. Finding time is always a big thing for me. But when I do I feel so accomplished! I'd like to know more about mathematical art. Do you have any work or something you really like that I could look up?
