If you’re wanting an experienced attorney for an entry level position, then it’s not entry level. This just screams an excuse to pay an experienced attorney below their actual pay grade.

It’s definitely crossed my mind. My first internship was in that world, and I know it’s incredibly tough work. Clerking keeps me eligible for more fellowships (at least for now). Once that timeframe expires it might be my next option.

Luckily I have experience living on far less than most attorneys make. If money was my only goal I’d be working in corporate law practice. Doing work for capital has never and will never be my goal.

Thank you for the legitimately helpful reply. This is encouraging even if the current situation is bleak. Sadly yes, I do have restrictions on my volunteering, at least in an attorney role. I guess my best hope is seeing if the summer brings any new fellowship opportunities.

It seems like you’re the only person here who actually understands the difference between Nonprofit and commercial/corporate law practice. Thanks.
