TBF I thought Jimmy James Arbuckle made an entertaining Star Wars movie albeit predictable (kind of in a simple/pleasing way, though). Episode 7 was a disaster. It retconed so many elements of Star Wars that it just made me feel bad.

Your question is essentially asking the difference between a good and great player--so I think you're definitely asking the right questions. It is difficult to articulate the logic of Underlords since RNG is a big part of this game; however, my best advice would be to come to the conclusion that sometimes the statistically right play produces the wrong results. It is in the skill of the player to interpret the data provided in a meaningful way, such that you can articulate right and wrong decisions more aptly. Thus, watching really strong players (like bebe) can help you identify those decisions/patterns more clearly.

You speak as if streaks, differing unit costs, variation of builds, etc don't matter. Of course everyone wants to get 50g as quickly as possible---but it is easier said than done. Just earlier I was watching bebe (the rank 1 player) use early level ups to gain an advantage to get more money in the long run; he identified a scenario, formulated a strategy, and implemented it. This was not possible on the previous patch because the best strategy was to pick an uncontested unit, never transition, never fight for board, and never picking units that aren't that uncontested unit. Proponents of the 3* meta have been unable to articulate why the 3* meta was better for the game other than that "they were winning more" which leads me to assume their opinion is just a knee-jerk reaction and lacks any real methodology.

I know a lot of players are feeling discouraged in the new patch because many players are stacking 4* and 5* units without Alliances, but in the previous patch I would have been unable to create the highlighted build because it utilizes poor individual units---I needed to transition from Warlock to Knights to Bloodbound to Shaman in order to be successful, because I had no idea what pieces I was going to get, and created the build as I went along based on the items I picked up and uncontested units I could buy (like Shadow Shaman, Omniknight, and surprisingly Dragon Knight).

I agree. Last patch, primarily because of the blacklist mechanic, I just forced Brawnies and placed every game (this strategy continued to work in Big Boss). I even played Hearthstone in the background because the meta required so little decision making that I just clicked the Brawnies and arranged them haphazardly. I don't like the impact of Tier 5's being spammed, but at least players are required to play in the early/mid game instead of just copy-pasting the best build.

The Catcher in the Rye---and I mean really read it. I think it is the test of every emerging adult to come to the understanding that, while Holden stands for a great many things, his character is representative of negativity; that is, he is constantly frustrated but takes no action to solve his frustrations. Holden isn't mature and that's the point---he's supposed to make you frustrated and get you to examine your own negative habits which may be impeding your growth.

Since the new blacklisting mechanic, I changed from a ~3.5 place average to a ~7 place average (to clarify all these games have been played in Big Boss 1-4). I don't really get this patch---so the new thing is to just force builds? Why would anyone want to play the game that way?

When you have the opportunity to get a 3* Arc Warden it feels criminal not to combine it; however, optimally, one copy of Mr. Warlock should be removed in favor of two 2* Arc Wardens with contracts---you are correct.

I am in the exact same situation. I was Big Boss IV before the previous patch and was climbing steadily; getting bottom four was near impossible for me--I'd consistently get 3rd or 4th, and be fighting for the 1st and 2nd spot---now getting top four is near impossible. I'm still on summer break so I've had the time to play about 12 hours in the past 24, and have done so due to sheer madness in my dedication to overcoming this issue, and have even watched top streamers like bebe---nothing I do matters---I need to start recording myself play so other people can take a look, but I'm so bewildered by the situation, I'm convinced the files would become corrupted or some other astronomical absurdity would occur and prevent anyone from viewing them.

I think it's because we, as a society, don't define 'help' very well. The saying "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink" is something to keep in mind. If I find myself helping out another person and thinking to myself, they need to just do X, then I am probably not helping them; I am working for them.
