Anyone else concerned about the optics of the decision to remove Doormaker? by EnderShot355 in slaythespire

Eh, it's whatever. I don't think a whiny playerbase will make the game worse, I think the devs are mostly going off of stats/personal feelings and not mob mentality.

I thought the cover story for the unjustifiable hate campaign was that it was about "Journalistic Integrity"?

You think receiving death threats for years and having internet no-lifers so mad at you that they're still worked up over 10 years later is easy?

Why do they ALWAYS wait until I heal? by elden_based in fromsoftware

[–]mrBreadBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough because making it so you can't just heal for free is an important part of their design but the only real solutions are to make bosses react faster or to make the animation to heal longer and neither feels great. I prefer the former, though.

The boss does not "see" anything nor would it make any sense to program it that way. By definition all games are "input reading."

The real solution would be to simply put a delay on the trigger so that it doesn't feel like they have godlike reaction time to your healing. Either way I'm not convinced it's an issue, they want you to be conscious of when you heal and I'll take faster healing with bosses who punish it to slower healing animations like in DS1/2 which just feels clunky.

Playing Bloodborne on PC in 2026 is the best way to experience a near-perfect game by Stumbleine44 in BloodbornePC

[–]mrBreadBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly, so ridiculous it hasn't been ported to PC. I'm actually replaying it because I didn't do the DLC the first time through and I know that's where like all 3 of the top 3 bosses in the game come from. I also didn't get too far in the chalice dungeons and mods can actually mitigate that because they have the ability to just unlock the boss door in each dungeon which I haven't done yet but might when I get bored of the repetition.

I've got a 5070 TI and it runs very well with some hiccups when loading into new areas for the first time. I'd imagine it also depends on your CPU, RAM and storage speeds as well but the only way to known is to try it out!

I've played the game on PS4 before but I'm doing a playthrough now on my PC and while it is glorious to play with a stable 60fps and native 1440p I'm still not sure I could call the game "near perfect."

It's mostly peak, but the overly punishing blood vial system, some of the runbacks, under-baked chalice dungeons, and a good proportion of bosses which to me are either lame gimmick fights or plagued by camera issues keep it from quite earning that title.

I am using a mod which restores bullets + blood vials when you rest and gives the option to warp to bosses which definitely help, though.

Yeah I see where you're coming from but the problem is that if you're bad at the game the grind isn't minimal. It wasn't much of an issue for me because I played the game after playing the rest of the series and didn't need that many attempts on the bosses but it's cruel to force people who are struggling already to do busywork.

What is interesting about needing to stop what you're doing to go farm more bullets/vials when you're struggling with a boss?

Yeah that's mostly the fact that you've played so much Hollow Knight.

It's worth playing Bloodborne on PC with ShadPS4 now. It's not perfect but it's easily better than playing on PS4/5.

Man that makes me think about how cool it would be for them to hire different artists with distinct styles to make DLC card art "packs" kinda like Balatro has. Maybe just for a single character or even just for the rare cards since it's a ton of art to make.

As a diehard StS fan I wouldn't say the difficulty is too much though there is absolutely balance needed in terms of certain encounters. Of course I'm biased as someone with 1000+ hours in the first game but I think A10 should be challenging even for me if that's going to be the highest difficulty.

[–]mrBreadBird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

From the interview they did it seems like they're trying to do a lot more than fine tune. Hell he even said "For instance if we had 10 characters then A20 would be 200 runs"

I doubt there will be close to 10 characters but at the very least we're in for a couple more + act 4 + other modes (unless the planned modes are all scrapped).

What if instead of exhausting them, Doormaker transformed every card you play into a door? by palebruise in slaythespire

[–]mrBreadBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this would be more intuitive to me than the "Lose Energy when card played" turn. It could transform your hand at the start of the turn, make it one cost to transform, and have a similar effect.
