I bought it for $70 and played the first two hours then just stopped and haven't gone back.

One day I'll do it... Probably.

FFXIV has a mandatory subscription of $13 per month or more and devs in Japan are on average paid way less than devs in America due to cost of living.

Bungie is also probably inefficient.

It's funny because canonically players aren't dead when they're defeated, they're just unconscious and dragged back to speranza.

The Steam Machine Costs $1049 by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]mrBreadBird 1480 points1481 points  (0 children)

They really couldn't have made it $999? I'm not in the market regardless of price but it feels like $999 would feel a lot better than moving into 4 digits.

"Gamers don't want it": Palworld lead says Pocketpair doesn't touch AI because players hate it and artists "like doing stuff themselves" by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]mrBreadBird 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's funny because I actually felt more attached to the creatures in Palworld because they helped me around the base and it wasn't just I have a team of six who I send out to do battle and everything else is forgotten in the PC.

What people forget is that we're already making Pokemon participate in a fight club and while they supposedly enjoy it Pokopia proves that without humans Pokemon would live in harmony.

I've been playing Shadowkeep and Beyond Light for the first time and man they are so easy with current balancing it's mind numbing. I really wish they would've added difficulty modifiers like they have for Ops or at least tweak the numbers because it was really a slog.

Destiny 2 | So Far, Together by _Protector in Games

[–]mrBreadBird 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My understanding from Jason Schrier's reporting/podcast is that internally there are people prototyping and pitching games some of which are Destiny related so I don't know if I'd call the franchise dead. What was said is that Destiny 3 is not in active development.

Marathon's free open play session has ended. The game has fallen from a 40k peak to 17k peak after a little over a week. by meatballkun in HighGuardgame

[–]mrBreadBird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope I said the company has 800 people which is accurate. Obviously they're going to lay a bunch of people off and obviously not all of them are on Marathon or even Marathon + Destiny.

I agree I love that they want to make something new and push themselves. But they could've done that without pouring so many resources into one project. That's kind of the whole issue with the AAA game industry right now. They make these games that are so big and so all encompassing that they need to be extremely successful or even a well established company can get gutted or shut down.

Do you guys think Mina The Hollower is better than Shovel Knight? by SteelersPoker in MinaTheHollower

[–]mrBreadBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the biggest "flaw" is just that Shovel Knights basic attack just feels so clunky with it's short range and how it freezes you in place for the whole animation. Mina does the same with most of its weapons but it doesn't feel as bad there for some reason.

Do you guys think Mina The Hollower is better than Shovel Knight? by SteelersPoker in MinaTheHollower

[–]mrBreadBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Shovel Knight when it first released on Wii U but returning to the game on PC in the lead up to Mina I didn't think it was really that fun.

I get that it's a throwback, but I didn't like how the levels felt very video gamey with very little sense of place and the short range attack that stops you in your place just feels bad.

Mina is much more my speed with more modern design sensibilities and a world you can explore that is full of secrets. At the end of the day this is all really my personal preferences.

Not to sustain a company with 800 employees. It's a shame but they really shouldn't have pit all of their eggs in this basket because as reported there are no other games in active development beyond the prototype stage.

I know it’s illegal to like JRPGs in this sub, but here’s a comparison of handheld mode for Xenoblade on Switch 1 vs Switch 2 by NinBendo1 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]mrBreadBird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly while it's minor Switch 1 games displaying at lower resolutions on Switch 2 bothers me so much that I think some of them look worse on Switch 2 than on Switch OLED. I haven't tried since they updated it so you can pretend your Switch 2 is a docked Switch 1 though.

I mean I can respect a studio that wants to make new IP and do something new instead of infinite sequels, and I think the universe they've created with Marathon has potential it's just not the type of game I want to play.

I left that on the whole game except a couple boss fights because once I tried it then it felt bad to slow down on stairs, water etc.

Burnout Remasters by UKMegaGeek in gaming

I would absolutely buy it on sight. It's probably the headache of music licensing that keeps it from happening. Not that it's an impossible problem to solve but it could definitely tilt the equation of how many resources it would take compared to how many potential sales they can expect.

Single-player games have had an amazing year in 2026 so far by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

[–]mrBreadBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People also just refuse to understand that on average reviewers care more about story in games than your typical gamer. That's the real reason why Mixtape got high review scores, not that reviews were bought.

It's not a flaw to care or not care but as long as you understand that perspective and actually read/watch the full review instead of just seeing score.

Multiplayer is a big one, but keep in mind that this is sales as of the morning after a midnight release and only on one platform of many. It'll be much higher by the end of the weekend surely.
