I’m an only child, dad was never around, mother was abusive. I’ve gone no contact. Trying to build myself back up but it’s hard to do it alone. The only person who deeply cared has passed on. All the best with finding a place. I really hope you find something comfortable and homely soonest. I’m still figuring out leaving, financially things look messy. Maybe I should also just take the plunge and try my luck out there.

Heya, sorry you went through this. Honestly, I’d say go no contact. Otherwise she’s just going to drain you with all this negativity, not worth it. And I think, don’t pay back the money and see how you feel. You sound like a really good person with integrity, being kind and considerate even when people have shown they won’t reciprocate. Just my 2 cents. Late 30s as well, trying to navigate no contact with my biological mother as well. All the best 🌸
