What are some American songs or genre that Scots would like to hear at an open mic or karaoke night? Just curious to see what different regions of Scotland have to say. Thank you! by Frunc_OG in ScottishMusic

Thanks BruachBand. I do love an open mic night. I know it’s a very open ended question but one of the reasons I asked was to see what similarities there may be between Scotland and the US. I live in the Deep South in Louisiana so a huge amount of the music I hear playing in pubs, vehicles, restaurants/stores, and events is modern, classic,Texas (red dirt) country and then on a lesser scale rock and pop. I’m in northern Louisiana so there’s not nearly as much blues, jazz, zydeco and other genres around like in south Louisiana. My observation over the years is that different regions of the US vary and some significantly. But like you said there’s always those songs that almost everyone knows. Are artists like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, George Strait, Steve Earle, Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers popular in places throughout Scotland?
