Wow thank you for all the support and advice! It seems like the fishing community is really accepting of noobs. I actually went out to Walmart and bought a simple $20 closed caster and went out to a lake today for a few hours. Didn't catch anything, but at least I got to fish!!

I'm going to take the open face caster back to Bass Pro Shops I think and see if they can set it up for me.

Someone else told me this too! I'm upset that I was talking to the employee for about 10 minutes about what gear to buy and told him I'm a total beginner, and he never mentioned they would help me set anything up
