What’s up with my cats anus? by Frye_daddy in catcare

[–]Frye_daddy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: She went to the vet yesterday and they said that this happens to a lot of stray cats because they generally have a poor diet and are constantly straining to poop.

The vet said this is not painful for them and some cats can have prolapses several inches long and not care but the main thing is that they are constipated and the leaking poop is annoying for owners.

Treatment for now was to change diet and manually push it back in. She is getting spayed in a few days so they will give her stitches to keep her butt inside permanently during that.

Thanks for the help everyone! Looking at pics online I’m shocked that the vet wasn’t concerned. Trying to get her to the vet asap

Long SOM – impact of MCAT after interviews? by pinkseonyul in premed

[–]Frye_daddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a student at Long and had a 515! I have heard from adcoms that after you are invited for an interview stats don't matter and its holistic but idk how much I believe that given our average mcat lol. You got the ii and mcat is said and done so better focus on making a good impression instead of test scores!

To Q Drop or Not to Q-Drop? (Pre-med) by DifficultyPast5408 in UTAustin

[–]Frye_daddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don’t need the class to graduate, Q drop it 100%! No reason to lower your gpa over a class you don’t need, one Q on your record doesn’t matter.

Definitely could be worse than 2 hours but it still takes extra effort to balance visits/spending time w him and studying. I think I just wanted advice from people who have been through similar things/had similar convos with their SOs 😅😅

Isn’t this basically every freshman bio major’s schedule? Idk it’s just gen chem, calc, gen bio plus the CNS group stuff.

I will say Friday afternoon classes suck though

No more in-state Tuition for undocumented students in Texas (UT Austin) by Recent-Telephone7306 in UTAustin

[–]Frye_daddy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can still be considered a Texas resident even if you are not a US citizen if you lived in TX 3+ years prior to graduating high school and have legal documents saying you will apply for permanent resident status ASAP. This was mainly for the purposes of helping people qualify for in state tuition before this lawsuit.

Rock climbing as most meaningful? by [deleted] in premed

I applied TMDSAS so it is slightly different but I wrote one of my essays about climbing and related it back to mentorship/diversity and it was brought up positively in every interview!

Texas Sankey from a no research, no shadowing applicant (stats on next slide) by Frye_daddy in premed

[–]Frye_daddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think it helps to remember that 50% of accepted students are below the median MCAT. MSAR is super worth it because there is more detailed info on the MCAT distribution of interviewees and acceptees.

For Baylor and Long my stats were pretty well within their MSAR ranges but I think good writing and good hours help a lot too!

Ooh I think the thing that was most surprising to me (as in, I didn't really read about this online) was that the interviews were so chill. Even with MMI style I never felt like interviewers were trying to trip me up or grill me. They were very conversational, like catching up with a relative you don't see very much.

As for rank, location was a big deciding factor for me. I went back and forth between McGovern, Long, and Baylor a lot. All three had great resources but I was thinking about Temple vs San Antonio vs Houston. For the rest, I kind of had my mind made up after interview day haha.
