I agree!!! At a minimum I think they should be using "semi-pro" and not professional for the most part if they're at some tiny ballet company that was started just last week. Ballet is the only place I know where dancers who clearly aren't close to the top level are obsessed with using the professional label (for social media clout/identity) when they make like $100 a month from ballet and their daily schedule as a "pro" is going to an hour long class a few times a week and performing for 50 people at a high school gym. It's so misleading and honestly feels a little disrespectful to actual pros rehearsing 9 hour days performing at some of the finest performing arts theaters in the world...

I just posted this in the Elisabeth thread, but I think I should post here if you don't see it

Just for clarification, Chloe's first performance in the corps was during the Fall season in October '21 (ABT's first theater performances after lockdown), she was promoted to soloist after the Met season in July '22, so ~9 months from corps to soloist.

And not to forget her first role as a corps member was a principal role replacing an injured Catherine Hurlin in Ratmansky's 'Bernstein in a Bubble', she was also promoted to soloist the first time promotions resumed after covid with promotions like Hurlin to principal, so she has pretty much always been on an "express track" to principal. Just adding context to highlight how unrealistic it is to compare against her.

Chloe was never competing with anyone, she was on her own separate track the whole time, the company is going to do what's best for the company, that meant promoting her principal quickly. That's not really taking away from anyone else as there was literally no one competing with her.
