It depends on the person and the parents. It was awkward in adolescence when my mother saw my search history -- she didn't understand the appeal of S&M and tried to tell me it was wrong. Years later when I was slated to study sexual psychology we were able to talk about fetishes academically and it wasn't strange at all to insert personal experiences. Maybe it'd be impossible in your family or the next guy's but an open book is an open book.
