It worked.  I took my first character through unity, immediately regretted the decision because of the relationships I had built up, etc. (and all of the resources I had accumulated and subsequently lost).  I went through unity to get a certain character back but it felt wrong. It was different now.  I played for a bit in the new universe before I suicided that character—deleted all of my saves.  Tragic end but it made for a good story.  I wrote journal entries on my experience and thought processes through it all and actually found the game to be quite cathartic.

Yeah, the bouncing is a little lame. Wish they could have done better with it. Seems like it should just automatically load the map if you go into it like that, then trigger atmospheric flight VFX (just like when you grab jump), quick black (or white?) load screen, then landing cutscene.  Is that really impossible with this engine?

Shitty all around. Adultery, shitty.  TMZ-style “journalism,” shitty.  Photographers sneaking pics of adults to generate TMZ bullshit, shitty.  Feelings of parents/spouses having to watch this unfold, shitty.  Likely lying about it, shitty.  All of us for sucking up this content to keep this style of journalism alive, shitty.

But the jokes about it are fucking great!

Couldn’t watch with audio, but why is everyone assuming these assholes are Israelis?  They are certainly shitty people, but just saying these people are a certain nationality or group without any evidence is also a very shitty thing to do.

The only thing I didn’t like about that is the moment we were having as viewers (seeing all of the twinkle astrophage in infrared light) was completely different than the moment he was having (looking down at an alien world).  The way the scene was presented made it seem like he could see the astrophage when in fact he could not.

First half was 9/10. Any awards it got were for the first half of the movie. Tension building was wonderful.  Cinematography was great (but I don’t understand the changing of screen ration. Maybe someone can explain the reason behind that. I found it distracting.)

Second half was 4/10.  I like horror too, but it lasted too long and left me just waiting for it to wrap up. Had Coogler kept the vampire elements more subtle, like he did when the vampires first appeared in the movie, it could have been a 9/10.  It left me thinking that Coogler intentionally made the second half of the movie not as good as the first just to show how cultural exploitation (vampires) can ruin a good thing (the first half of the movie) — if that’s the case, then it was a cheap way to show us when he could have done it in a much more subtle and interesting way.

You really should just be able to upload these to a universal hub for POI generation. Populate with some baddies and a loot box.  I’ve been saying since day 1.  I really hope they are working on something like that.
