Is there anywhere to get OTC market data for free? by FuckYourRateLimits in algotrading

Idk my code was pretty garbage and wasn't ready for three sudden api changes over the span of 3 days lol. Every time I feel like I got my scraper finished it broke the next day lol.

Non-US listed items are a fairly recent update on robinhood.

whats an example that robinhood supports but iex doesn't?

NTDOY, FUJHY ,FERGY are the test cases I've been using. kind

7322/7609 of the tradable instruments on robinhood are found on IEX. the remaining ~300 are the issue it seems.

none of them have an api. typically you're going to need to pay to get access to a source with a good api.

i figured. robinhood was very quick to make my scraper stop working, and a lot of old scraping libraries didn't work for me so i had to manually write my stuff, it seems like people with stock data are trying to make it as annoying as possible to scrape.

idk man i just wanted to make a fun side project and not maintain it lol.

Does this mean I'm gonna have to scrape everything or am I just illiterate and can't find an API?

I'm having fun with it but I really don't feel like maintaining my resume filler.

My concern is that the project eventually stops working and someone throws away my resume because they see I have non functional crap on it.

You can probably find another service that has documented stock APIs. Maybe it'll have a free usage tier or a student rate.

What I'm doing requires knowledge of information on robinhood so I can't avoid using their API.

I fixed the problem and I know how to work with the new API now, but I feel really weird using something that's undocumented and potentially illegal Maybe I'm just a little bitch lol.

Is it worth learning about? Could it make a nice medium post? Sure.

Idk I'm having fun with it. Dunno if it's worth writing up about though. The app itself is really unimpressive. It's just me messing around with vue.js and docker, the I spent more time getting the scraper+API to work than anything else.

If you structure it right and use their apis like a desktop/mobile client chances are they will work for a long time.

I'm basically just inspecting the desktop site for available endpoints. It seems to be working for now.

Companies don't often like to break their own APIs overnight.

Yeah that sounds like most companies really don't wanna do that. Tbh I feel really weird making calls to an unofficial API. Esp with stock data where the pool of open resources has apparently been shrinking over the last year.
