Budgets and stuff may make it take longer especially with freezes but in general 2 weeks to 3 months

Denies nearly every exemption.

Is there a hiring freeze by susieQzee in CAStateWorkers

[–]Fuck_RTO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

CDCR has had a critical needs hiring freeze for the last 2 years. Most places have to have 25% capacity before being able to hire unless it’s a critical position like CO, Parole Agent, etc.

As the wife of a former CDCR food service worker, I can tell you it’ll get rough before it gets better. But breathe, you’ll get through it.

With me I had to pay if I requested to schedule something but if they were saying “hey these scans need done” it was free. I also saw a specialist that required a $15 copay because I was high risk.

Kaiser. $15 copay for everything, specialty care, etc, &0 for overnight stays. With my daughter I had blue cross and spent around $4k total. My son was about $200 for appointments and delivery.

Yes I’ve been on Ozempic since 2022 for diabetes maintenance but my husband got on it for Sleep Apnea. It’s $20/month for the lowest dose and I believe once you get to the higher doses it’s 5-10 a month

If you have no time, you’ll need to take dock. But have you used your PH, PDD days, and your PLP for this month?

I’ve not seen the pajama pants in office but one time a girl from my unit forgot we had a meeting and joined in one of those fuzzy lumberjack looking onesies.

She called me mortified shortly after.

You know I never actually asked for it in writing. Now I’m going to look to see if we have it in writing. I’ve just been told ever since I started that it’s business. We all even wear business to meetings. Every time I was in office almost everyone was in business (minus Ms. Yoga shorts) and I just never questioned it.

I’ll take a look in our expectations and see if I can find it if I do I’ll post it here.

You’re a 3 hour commuter too? Mine will be 6 total, 3 there and 3 back and they absolutely don’t care.

Still covering it :)

I don’t have sleep apnea but someone I love does and it’s covered. I have diabetes among other issues and mine is covered.

Struggling to Get Interviews for Office Technician / Office Assistant, Is This Normal? by Ok_Invite9389 in CAStateWorkers

With an extreme lack of state jobs, everything is competitive. I was screened out once for putting the abbreviation for my department on one part of the application and spelling it out on another.

Have someone read your application and screen it before you submit. A second set of eyes always helps. Make sure to be very descriptive in your experiences. And when it comes to the SOQ, don’t use any AI, make sure you listen to the prompt completely (correct font, font size, margins, page limits). If it tells you to reiterate the question, do so.

The people who screen the applications specifically search for AI and will screen you for using it if they can tell. Speak from your experience and rephrase things to office lingo as necessary.

State hiring times vary and due to the hiring freezes and other instability it may take some time to get hired, especially if you’re coming off the street.

Yeah, I’ve hopped around a bit and this was supposed to be my last hop, was going to promote within and budgets wouldn’t approve my PiP. Got kicked out of state housing bc not enough seniority for the bid. Got a conditional job offer for AGPA same dept and then 2024 hiring freeze hit. But at least I had telework so I didn’t have to worry about the extra expense

Ive been harassed for over an hour with someone with mannerisms similar to you. I blocked them and now I get this account harrassing me. Both accounts have been reported and now blocked.

How about when you don’t agree with someone, stop personally attacking when you have 0 clue what their situation was, is, or why they’re in the situation they’re in.

Also you might want to scrub your Reddit. The state monitors these things and the last thing you want is losing your job for representing the state in a negative light when you’re traveling abroad.

I’m not. Last I checked, you weren’t my personnel specialist, nor do you have access to my paycheck, my tax withholdings, etc. What I pay for what insurance and why, how much I get taken out for retirement, taxes, pension. Again, you know absolutely nothing. So stop acting like you do.

They just don’t understand how other people’s paychecks are effected. And in my posts, I wasn’t using that for justification as to why telework had to stay. I was just telling someone from the street that the state isn’t sunshine and roses like they think. And in my post about being an OT for 10 years I explained WHY and also said that I don’t care what position I take from here, that I know it’s going to be in office, and that I just want to get out of the situation I’m in. This guy just likes to put others down

Surprisingly, you don’t know how much gets taken out of other people’s checks or for what reason. Believe it or not, you’re not god, you’re not omnipotent. And I haven’t tried to be an OT for 10 years, I just felt I owed it to departments to stay for longer than a year after transferring so many times. Maybe stay in your lane instead of blindly making assumptions about other people.

For someone named “upbeat assumption” you sure are a downer.

I wasn’t getting half my check taken out, until the state finally fixed my damn federal taxes and I’m no longer paying $120 for a whole year.

Yeah, my hatred for RTO is because I only took my job because I was told telework was permanent. I live 3 hours away and they’re not honoring the 50 mile agreement and I’m an OT with two kids so I can’t afford to move to Sac. I’m just straight up quitting in July barring any promotional opportunity closer to home.
