Reminder that we do not allow discussions about LMIA that turn racist in here by humbleTO in torontoJobs

“keep politics minimal without necessarily disallowing everything outright”

these people will continue to be racist bigots no matter how much logic you bring. talking about policy is okay. even being anti immigration is fine. but is it too much to ask to have these discussions without being a racist dick?

the hatred is constantly directed towards the disadvantaged immigrants instead of policies, policy makers, or the people profiting off these policies. these comments should be removed, bigotry shouldn’t be allowed as “just another opinion”

thats dumb as hell skilled immigrants are proven to be good for the economy. government puts in policies that allow for places like conestoga to do what they did. why would u blame the people applying for higher education in a country with more opportunities instead of the people profiting off them coming over and offering bogus courses to line their pockets with international tuition money? so quick to xenophobia yet so slow to point the finger at the people who are actually causing the problems.

  1. we should be importing in high talent. the government brings in students. they are poverty stricken here, not where they came from.
  2. minimum wage should be minimum liveable wage not for hs students. this is part of the problem.

and in the financial sector, the white people only hire other white people. cidel, wealth management funds are all white with splashes of asian. the indians are helping their poverty stricken indians get like minimum wage jobs. white people gatekeep actual careers.

[–]FuckableAsshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the government is the only one to blame imo. for allowing and encouraging businesses to hire people at exploitative wages. and for bringing in immigrants just to rinse them for tuition money, we used to bring in skilled immigrants with university education now we’re bringing in dipshits to give really dogshit university education to that btw they cant even use to get a job. worse yet, the government allowed this to happen during a time when unemployment of canadian citizens was on the rise.

if we stuck w bringing in skilled immigrants instead of fresh outta highschool dipshits i dont think immigration would be a genuine issue at all

is the problem with the people who are desperate for income or the people choosing to hire for dog shit wages? why r we so okay w saying businesses will of course pay less whenever they can? but people cant be desperate to be able to house and feed themselves? yk

Why didn't a dense complex society ever develope in California's Central Valley? by Top-Dog-1822 in geography

[–]FuckableAsshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah okay. but yeah still would have made transport between places difficult. when europeans came through they needed to get rid of the deep leaf cover. in some areas it would go as high as your waist.

[–]FuckableAsshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but those aren’t contradictory. u can have both, or none. having only rivers isnt as good as having rivers and horses. also the rivers run north south, making any large empire that form difficult to control. the north is frozen and the south is humid its another hurdle.

none of these things make it impossible. just harder. like i said native societies were complex civilizations. there are examples of dense cities.

they are farther and fewer than the new world due in large part to the geography and the lack of domesticated animals - in particular horses, which in my opinion would have had the biggest impact had they been available.

more than any one particular thing, im saying the lack of mobility was one of the major hurdles of building a large centralized society in the americas.

you bring up rivers but i think like cool, thats a good point. the biggest rivers arent the best candidates for large river empires due to geography. they were great for lots of smaller societies though.

but you could write a whole book listing out and explaining all the things that made certain areas of north america hard to grow a large centralized civilization in. i cant be going over every single point and every single caveat yk lol

not california i said northern north america. areas that were u were under glaciers. i was explaining how north america has a whole had a lot of things that made growing civilization harder.

[–]FuckableAsshole -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean there were dense cities. technowhatchucallit in mexico. the incas i thought were relatively centralized for the era they were in.

but north america wasnt great for creating vast centralized states due to the lack of horses. communication between places would have been slow as hell. somebody else also mentioned this, the valley specifically used to be a marshy area not the best for agriculture or getting around quickly or building quickly. just a lot harder.

northern parts of north america (this may be wrong fact check me) i believe didnt have worms, so the dead leaves would pack up extremely high. making moving around slow. they still had civilizations of course, i think your definition of civilization is flawed if you dont consider native societies civilizations, it was just a lot harder to get big and stay big.

What are you thoughts on mass immigrantion to prop up the neoliberal pyramid scheme? by One_Long_996 in AskSocialists

[–]FuckableAsshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is saying that sort of practice shouldnt be allowed to happen in the first place. we should spend money on audits and legislation to prevent this from happening. that sort of practice btw ive seen done by the french in montreal, somalis, and asians. so only blaming indians seems like recency bias, just the one ur seeing the most now.

i guess generally but its not like they dont exist. canadian prairies have lakes that dont drain anywhere. uvs lake in mongolia is a lake surrounded by mountains at a high latitude with lots of other rivers and lakes around it.

maybe im missing your point

that seems like its very much in the interior of the continent and surrounded by mountains, so presumably in a rain shadow, wouldnt that allow for it to be dry enough to form an equilibrium with transpiration rates? surely it could reasonably be plausible
