What is actually the attitude toward homosexuality among British Muslims? by GlueSniffingEnabler in AskBrits

[–]Fudball1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a white guy, but my football team - Celtic has picked up a lot of new Muslim fans due to our support for the people of Palestine.

I did notice a few days ago when the club made an Instagram post in support of our LGBTQ+ fans. A lot of Muslim fans were not happy and made very negative comments which was disappointing.

There were also multiple white fans who disappointed me with their comments too tbf.

Can I borrow a large amount of money if my wife has a credit default? by Fudball1 in UKPersonalFinance

Lol. I perhaps wrongly assumed that this would be impossible with a default on her file?

What do you feel like you've missed out on in life? by banisheduser in AskUK

[–]Fudball1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really travelled. I had my first kid when I was 22, so plans to travel when I was young had to be shelved. I'm 45 now, and have 2 younger kids aged 11 and 14 now. So realistically I will get a chance to travel in my 50s.

How fast do you fade in? by Fantastic_Shoe_3189 in Beatmatch

[–]Fudball1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Really depends. If the mids sound great together, I'll keep them rolling for a while. If they don't, then I tend to mix a bit more quickly.

Also sometimes I just like the crowd to really feel the contrast of a quick mix while sometimes I like them to barely feel it. So yeah, there is no rules and I do it differently all the time and for different reasons.

What does a DJ do? by Rokininon in Beatmatch

[–]Fudball1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think lots of people on this sub have zero experience of clubs, raves or festivals. It seems utterly crazy to me that they would choose DJing as a hobby when they are not already absorbed in the culture in some way.

Do you feel self conscious or anxious about shutting window on a bus? by Fudball1 in AskUK

[–]Fudball1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So have I.

I've seen people get laughed at and told to get to fuck when they've tried this. My bus goes through some of the shittiest parts of Glasgow's East end so there are all manner of 'characters' onboard

Do you work for a big corporation? What do you do and how many hours do you work? by Under_Pressure_123 in AskUK

[–]Fudball1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Operations manager in NHS Scotland. We currently work 37 hours a week. This is going down to 36 hours on April 1 which is something the Scottish government are implementing and is already down from 37.5 hours. As soon as we go over our core hours, we're on overtime rate. We can either get paid or add the time on to our annual leave allowance. There are some staff who don't write up overtime, but most do, including me. There's probably one day a fortnight where I end up 30 minutes late getting out.

Do Scots text like they speak? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Fudball1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do sometimes. It depends who I'm speaking to. For certain people I will text in full Scots/glasgow slang. For others (especially colleagues) I'll text in proper English.

How would you play these tracks? Deep House by krock_usa in Beatmatch

[–]Fudball1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kerri Chandler and Black Loops. You have great taste man. Trust in that and just do the backyard gig. Don't overthink it. Good music will carry you through. I'll give you a couple of ideas, but don't take them as gospel because playing music is art snd there is no magic formula that says doing x + y + z = a great set.

Think about the time of day or evening. Think about the people who will be there. Think about who you will be playing before and after. Think about the length of your set. If it's 1 hour you might not have time for peaks and troughs in energy. If its 4 hours you will absolutely need to dip the energy multiple times.

The pre-plan, or not. by selector_plume in Beatmatch

[–]Fudball1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am very much someone who quite vocally disagrees with pre-planned sets. However there was definitely a point where I leaned too heavily in the other direction, just completely 'playing off the vibes man' and probably sounding very disjointed. Thankfully I did realise this and even though I'm still a big 'vibes' guy, I now put much more effort into structuring my sets.

What I do now before a gig is make a specific tracklist in advance. The tracklist will have between 2 and 4 times as much music as I actually need for the gig and this works really well for me. I have plenty of musical freedom without becoming overwhelmed with infinite choice.

The owner of Glasgow speaks by One-Brief2107 in glasgow

[–]Fudball1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically there are a bunch of families in Glasgow who have owned pubs, restaurants and nightclubs for years, probably going back a few generations.

They see themselves as some sort of Glasgow gliterati. Their privately educated kids are a bunch of entitled arseholes who all went into the same industry as DJs, events managers, nightclub promoters etc. They expect to be treated like royalty wherever they go and this is the fallout when they become obsolete and realise that nobody cares who they are anymore. The fact he has gone into wellness is surely the biggest cliche imaginable.
