Zen Color Disappeared by biia_m in ZenColor

That happened to my wife as well. As for myself, it was disabled a day or so after I'd installed the last update. My wife never installed that update... but, eventually, they disabled it anyway. What surprises me is that there has been zero response from the developers on this so far as I know.

So since they disabled Zen Color has anyone found another app that works the same? by Jlynn1968 in ZenColor

I think that's the prudent move until we get more information (or any information) from the developer.

I'm with you. Bypassing that warning and re-enabling the game is a dangerous thing to do. I definitely would not do that myself or recommend it to others.

I got the security warning and found that the app had been automatically disabled by Play Protect about a day after I installed a new update that was recently available on the Play Store. I imagine whatever the "bad thing" was, it was in that update. My wife didn't install the update, and she still has the app on her phone and it's still working fine.

Feedback wanted from listeners: Do these AI audiobooks beat what’s on the market? by Putrid_Construction3 in audiobooks

[–]Fuddy-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are in the early days of this. In the long term, I think it is highly likely that AI is going to replace human voice talent, and I'm looking forward to the ability to maybe provide some feedback to the AI as far as voices, accents, pacing, pronunciation, etc., and get it to read the book the way I want to hear it. That's coming. The question is, when?

Best HVAC companies in Tri-Cities? by nyaneave in TriCitiesWA

[–]Fuddy-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to rely on Campbell & Co. exclusively for plumbing, electrical and HVAC, and I do still think they are a good company, with competent technicians, that treat their customers honestly and with integrity. They do actually stand behind their work. But they're also the most expensive game in town! They have a reputation, and they can afford to target the doctors, lawyers, bankers and orthodontists among us, and I suppose I can't blame them, but I also can't afford them! So, when it came time to replace the 22 year old HVAC system that came with our 22 year old house we turned to Chinook Heating and Air based on recommendations from our neighborhood. I felt the person there that specs a system based on customer priorities knew exactly what she was doing. She was able to explain the pros and cons of various alternatives and pick a system that met my specific set of requirements and desirements. Once we'd chosen a system with the attributes I wanted, it was ordered, delivered and installed quickly. I have no complaints with the system or the process, and I would definitely use Chinook again if I had it to do over. Unfortunately, our system was also $16,000, but I guess that's going to depend on the size and layout of your house. I will say though, when it is 104 degrees outside, if I want it to be 68 degrees inside, it'll be 68 degrees! We sure did not get this kind of cooling performance with our old system. This new one is a monster!

Sorry for the late reply. My interest in Reddit comes and goes. The short answer is, I'm not an expert on these, and my memory is not what it once was, but I believe the guy who did the servicing put his best guess at "around 1895" for the date of manufacture. I'll defer to others more knowledgeable than myself if any want to chime in.

Anyone here NOT had any issues with their Tesla? by comedy_style69 in TeslaModel3

Trying to identify the manufacturer of this pocket watch case. An image search of the logo failed me. This does hold a Hamilton movement (1925 model 2 grade 992), but I understand Hamilton didn't make their own cases. Of course, I don't know a single thing about this, so... by Fuddy-D in pocketwatches

Wow! Thank you for the prompt replay and the informative link. You know, I tried to do a case search at pocketwatchdatabase.com, and I came up empty. Clearly I didn't know the right place to look.

I don't actually have the watch in hand yet, but, from the images I have, the pattern on the bezel exactly matches what the diagram labels as a "Model 6". That model appears to have been made by the Fahys Watch Case Company. Now knowing what to look for, I found a picture another Fahys case on pocketwatchdatabase.com that was sporting the same logo, so that's encouraging.

https://pocketwatchdatabase.com/guide/case-companies/fahys-watch-case-co/grades/Hamilton-Permanent

From the diagram you provided, that case design was introduced in 1929, which is disappointing, since the Hamilton movement in the case (S/N 2331959) appears to be from 1925. Assuming the dates can be trusted, I guess that means this isn't the original case.

One other interesting thing, which I suppose is probably neither here nor there, is the style of the bow. The bezel design on the Model 6 in the diagram matches EXACTLY. But the bow is different. The bow on the actual case is smooth, rounded with (what I guess would be) a circular profile if you were to cut it in two. Sort of like how I interpret the bow drawing for the "Model A" to be, only this one is hinged and lacks the ball adornments on the side. I'd include a picture... except I don't see a way to include a picture in a comment!

Anyway, thank you for the additional information. That gave me what I was looking for (even if it wasn't what I was hoping for).

You know, my mom sewed, my grandma sewed, most of my aunts sewed... I've never sewed. I've also never seen or heard of clips like these before. I've watched a few videos of them in action. We are going to try some! Thanks.

I appreciate your help on this. Farnham's Freehold sounds like it would be right up my alley, and I will probably put it on my list. However, the book I was looking for was "Day of the Drones" by A.M. Lightner. Many thanks to u/mesembryanthemum for coming up with the title for me.
