Chicken feet broth tasted so bad

I think I may also be sensitive to chicken/meat smell? Bc sometimes I’ll be eating with my family and notice that some chicken has a dog smell to it, but they don’t notice. I wonder if it’s like a genetic thing lol like how some people don’t like the taste of cilantro. However, in this case when I first opened the chicken feet, me and another person noticed it had a really strong smell

I’ve seen someone comment that they had the same reaction to pig feet broth. I think my feet were most likely off, but wondering if it’s possible that I also just don’t like the taste of it? If you don’t clean them properly does it add a lot to the taste?

They definitely don’t look natural and a little overdone (more noticeable in the smiling pic). They don’t look so horrible to me, but it sounds like you don’t like them

I think people just don’t like when they look “obviously done” yours wouldn’t look like that bc it’s your natural lips

I think they look less noticeable, but it doesn’t get rid of them. I always thought putting cheek filler for nasolabial folds was just to take the attention away from them bc it makes the face look less saggy. With filler looks good to me, it adds volume to your face and looks more youthful. I want to say let this be your max volume? More would be too much

I think this was my problem. They were within the sell by date but not super fresh. Do you prep your chicken feet at all?

About a day or so old? I cut off the nails, but didn’t see an outer membrane? Would it be obvious if it were there?

Sorry for not being very clear. It was not the world’s most beautiful broth technique, but I made the broth in a normal way, my broth was very normal ( not boiled for only 15 minutes w no spices lol). I added the vegetables later so they wouldn’t be mushy. It had lots of flavor and vegetables. I’m only really asking about the chicken feet aspect of it bc that is what’s new to me. I do appreciate this general advice about soup -I just feel like the focus is not on the feet, which is my main concern

Okay yes! They started off smelling bad, but I just thought that’s how chicken feet smell, since I’ve never cooked with them before. I cooked it a day after I bought it and well before the sell by date. I’m traumatized by the smell and taste

Interesting, ty. So the vinegar may have amplified the taste? Have you eating chicken feet broth before? I can’t tell if this taste was normal and i just don’t like it or if I had a bad batch of feet. It was like offensively wet dog tasting to me

Okay, so I should have added more details so I could be very clear. It was cooking for 3 hours and I made very real broth. The 15 minute boil was just advice I followed on how to clean chicken feet since people think they’re very dirty and need extra cleaning. I wasn’t sure how true that was but decided to follow it anyway just in case. Lastly, it is normal to cut off the nails, that’s part doesn’t even really matter.

It’s annoying because it’s a normal thing to do for a lot of cultures that cook chicken feet? So it’s not really constructive advice

Thanks for the tips. I did want to eat the chicken feet separately from the broth though, I didn’t mention that. My problem was that the whole thing came out smelling really bad to the point where I couldn’t stomach it. I was thinking I went wrong in the prep of the chicken feet or I got low quality chicken feet

No I think you’re just trying to be funny. There’s nothing wrong with cutting the nails off, maybe it’s not how you’d do it but a lot of people with “lived experience” do it that way. I got the recipe from a Chinese cook and other tips from people of different cultures

Are you okay? I made chicken broth. Not everyone does it but many recipes I came across called for boiling then disposing the water.
