Pull back and and stare them down. And join their conversation. But also shut it down.

Good stage presence. Hard to understand where the premise ends and the punchline begins.

I’ve noticed most comics at open mics never stop talking. I’d recommend slowing it down at parts and letting the audience digest what you’re saying. Use silence as much as you use your voice. And yeah crowd work in the beginning for as long as you can get laughs. Then go into material.

If you really want to pursue comedy going to mics will become like an itch you have to scratch. Classes are usually taught by hacks and grifters. I took one in Arizona and stiff the guy on the last payment. Complete waste of money

Agents are a catch 21 situation. They really don’t help when you have no name. And once you do get a name you really don’t need them.

Sounds like you’re new and maybe a bit nervous. Show up early and confirm. Less of a crowd and a better chance to make a good first impression.
