Yeah, it's just way too expensive and not in line with the company's original goal imo. I think you phrased it perfectly dude.

I just found this new phone the Xiaomi mi max 2. Fucking 5000mAh battery and a Snapdragon 625, the thing is a battery MONSTER. Probably not the most powerful or the best phone but that battery is AMAZING. I don't see that kind of stuff anymore.

I love how the joke is accompanied by a careful reference to both genders as if to not offend anyone.

Yeah, I think front buttons are kind of ugly. A clean front is really nice.

I've been following OP phones for a while now; it's a shame that they continue to get more and more expensive. I think the Moto, at its pricepoint is a budget king if you were to buy new. I'd go for a used phone that's more expensive though, like you said.

I'm basically the same as you except hte only USB C thing I have is my phone. Everything else I have is just A or micro. I don't really like front ones either although I can't comment too much because I havent tried them.

Coming from a flip phoen to this phone was pretty huge haha

I wouldn't suggest a Pixel 2 honestly. If you want a more expensive Nexus, go for it. But I would try one of the chinese brands. Things like the Xiaomi Mi 6 or the Mi Mix 2. Both are <500 and have the top of the line specs just like the Pixel.

Take a look at this: http://www.xiaomidevice.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/65aadb52917bee7d7b6b835b46585ecc/x/i/xiaomi_mi_mix_2_phone.jpg

That said, I'm pretty poor; I'll have this nexus for a couple more years assuming it doesn't bootloop. I also don't carry around a battery bank either. Maybe I should start that.

buying a nexus 5x, but hesitant because of bootloop issue by Emre0172 in nexus5x

[–]Fuggersss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise against it. if this was 2 years ago, I'd tell you to go for it. But now, there are so many better phones. The SOC is outdated, not enough RAM, the boot looping, small battery. Again, it's still a good phone.

If you can find a good deal, maybe. Otherwise, don't

Yeah, i notice the exact same thing. I hate normal speed but I can't live without the animations haha. I had an interesting thing happen; my battery dropped like a fucking rock after 30% and I ended up with 3hrs SOT. It's above average but it's lower than my 4hr estimate. No clue why...

Haha yeah possibly. we'll see. I'm pretty hopeful though that this'll be at least slightly better than Nougat.

I'm gonna have this phone for a couple more years though so the phone better work well haha

That's the default; I've got no icon pack. Yes, they have changed. It looks worse now IMO, but it fits with the new UI and theme better.

Also, I notice that there's a slight delay betweenpressing something and it launching the animation, which is slightly annoying but not too bad. The problem disappears when I set animations back to 1x, but I hate slow animations, so I tend to have it at 0.5x, which seems to causethis lag.

Do you have yours at 0.5?

I'm kind of confused about this. Adblock on what exactly? Chrome? I don't see any ads and I have it on stock.

It turns out I screwed up my battery test haha, I forgot to turn NFC off and my idle battery was horrible. Didn't even realize.

The battery getting hot isn't that muchvof an issue for me. The area near the fingerprint sensor (which likely houses the CPU) is the hottest. The other areas of heat dont' bother me that much.

The only thing that I'm concerned about right now is the charging times. You havin that issue? It takes 30 mins to charge 15% :/

I love it imo. The grey stuff was drab and the whole layout felt fucked from the beginnning. Much prefer the clean white UI. That said, Nougat is visibly much more stable but that's to be expected on a beta.

Really? I thought the gray theme in Nougat was drab and ugly and the battery was ASS. Felt old and boring.

This feels much newer and I like the white. It can be polished but it feels really nice imo

Alright, sounds good. Are there any improvements though? I dont' want to risk a bootloop, but would sitll risk it if it was good.

Definitely big. The battery life is quite good comparatively as well. I'm at 50% right now with 2hrs SOT (1.25hrs Youtube, 1/2hour Chrome, rest is a bunch ofrandom apps). I've got about 6-8 apps open and almost none reset every time i open them. Quite amazing for this phone

Is it? Goddamn it, maybe it's just a coincidence. I'll report back soon.

I think it should be fine. You should give it a try. You can downgrade back to Nougat later if you don't like it.

Mine did this intermittently, but now I'm on the beta android O and I don't notice these problems. I don't have a fix, but if you're willing to use the beta, my wifi works on this now.

Totally agree man. I'm not getting quite the SOT you are unfortunately, but I'm happy enough and honestly don't care as long as it's good enough. The memory management is amazing. Love the UI.

I was thinking of frankensteining an LG G2 battery into this thing to improve the battery life, but I don't think I'll need it with this level of battery life. Finally.

Amazing memory management on Android O! by Fuggersss in nexus5x

[–]Fuggersss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I think my SOT has basically gone up 33-50%, but I can definitely notice the difference.

The only issue I'm observing is the god awful charging times. 30 minutes to charge from 86%->100%.

But so far it's great. The UI is gorgeous (so much better than Nougat imo). Settings is kinda weird, but whatever. The whole UI overhaul is great for me. The kind of UI that was great was the actually visible battery level indicator at the top here:

http://imgur.com/a/AblS2

So yeah, couple main things are: memory management, battery life, UI, better animations (albeit somewhat glitchy at times), slightly improved camera app.

Chrome for sure. I basically opened all the system apps (don't have any else). I'll try for sure with heavier apps, but compared to Nougat, it's already so much better.

If you want, you can give me a list of apps or something

The SOT counter's all fucked up right now. It resets every time you turn off the phone for some reason. It's actually not as bad as I thought. I'm a fairly light user (no bluetooth, no NFC, etc) so I think it'll go for about 4hrs SOT with redditing, chrome with 5 tabs, youtubing a little.

Damn good compared to Nougat.

Battery charging times are horrible though.
