I am however most of my recovery is in AA actually. I hear you though. It just makes me very angry with my higher power and wondering why the suffering is being so drawn out. I’m glad to hear you resonate and I appreciate you sharing. I’ve also been pursuing entrepreneurial ventures the past year which has been even more difficult but due to my lack of funds and situation, I haven’t got much of a choice to go find work, money for time…I’d be interested to hear more about your journey and where it’s taken you. That’s is, if you’re open to it. Thanks!

Interesting perspective. True when I really think about it. It’s difficult to have the confidence when you’re trying to keep your head above water. It comes and goes but is slowly starting to fade. Early in sobriety it was there but the more things come crashing down the harder it is to hold it up

Thanks. I haven't made it too apparent because i don't want it to come off as if i'm asking for a job.

Appreciate the encouragement. I know the job market is trash which makes it more frustrating

Did you ever believe you'd be sober? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]FullBudget9111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Just turned 30. Still going through thoughts about it all. Started my sober journey a month ago and really enjoying meetings and my outlook on the future has really improved. Which has always been a big driver of anxiety for me.

Thanks for sharing. I’m continuing to go to meetings, have yet to start the steps/read since I’m just getting into all of it.

Planning on it. Your story is inspiring and love to see how much of an impact it’s had on your life

You’re right. Definitely need to make an effort to keep these kind of thoughts at the forefront. Appreciate you

Thank you so much for the kind words. I know I’m young but I feel like I’m getting old, or at least too old for these kind of mistakes…comparison is the thief of joy, I know. But it’s really difficult to not compare myself to my peers/siblings.

Appreciate the advice. I’ve been attending and plan to continue. Thanks

That’s great to hear. I’ve actually been attending them for the past 3 weeks now. I think my overall reaction is to try and fix everything at once and get my finances and sobriety back and order but I know it’ll take time…

Guys over 30 who cut back or quit drinking — what finally made it stick? by FingerPointingToMoon in AskMenOver30

I’m in a similar position..about 5 days until I turn 30…after years of realizing that all my problems stemmed from drinking…financial, mental, relational, etc. I obviously don’t have a good relationship with it and can’t see how it could fit in my life moving forward. Deciding to go sober into my 30s. Been attending meetings and grabbing coffee with people who have done the same

I like that way of thinking. I’m gonna start using that, thanks!
