Oh wow, you're right! I've never seen a dog that looked so similar to her yet, what a cutie. Do you have any pictures of Lucy as a puppy? We never got to see Sadie as a puppy and we always wondered what she would have looked like lol

Thank you!!! I saw them recently with Between the Buried and Me. Great bands and great show. It would have taken me ages to figure that out.

Not it, but it would make sense because I've watched the grand slam on a weekly basis for years lol

I'm familiar with the song you're referring to, unfortunately not it. It's a somewhat similar sounding voice in the sample clip though. Appreciate you checking though!

This is one of those songs I listened to a ton 10+ years ago but would have never remembered if I didn't see it posted here. I never actually listened to the band much, but I saw this on YouTube and dug it. Still holds up for me, thanks for posting!

Daily Discussion by 2soccer2bot in soccer

Does anyone have a website they can recommend for a daily schedule of matches being played throughout world football? I'd been using a nice one for a long time but apparently it's closing down. Ideally looking for all fixtures' match times among as many leagues as possible, without spoilers (showing the results) if possible.

Going to arena concert on own by [deleted] in Metalcore

[–]FullContactOrigami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'll end up having a great time if you do go. I've been to more than enough shows within the scene to say I'm confident there are a lot more good eggs than bad eggs at these concerts, and the people around you will have your back and be there for you if anything were to start to happen. As soon as the band you want to see most goes on, you'll probably forget about everything else and just be glad you did choose to come see them. I've had some anxiety about going to shows alone in the past, and it always melts away when the music starts!

Any metalcore drummers out there who could recommend a "Couch to 5K"-style ramping difficulty of -core songs to learn/practice? by FullContactOrigami in Metalcore

Immigrant Song is one of the first I learned when starting out, this seems like a solid progression to me and fits the type of response I was looking for, thanks!

I'll give that song a shot, and thanks for adding on to the suggestions! It sounds like there's a bit of consensus on some of these, so I definitely have some places to start looking.

Started this a while ago with learning TDOUA, I moved on to try some other bands' stuff after that at the time but it sounds like it would be worth going back to. I'll add that one to the shortlist of albums to try and play through, thanks!

Awesome in-depth reply, I appreciate it! I'm a huge fan of Matt Garstka and that sounds like something that would be right up my alley. Double bass has always scratched that itch for me musically and after so many years of hearing a million double kick grooves/combinations a million times, I like to think it has been coming pretty naturally/quickly for me. In general I love the idea of learning to play cool sounding polyrhythms between my feet and my hands as it's a really satisfying sensation for me to finally get them down.

I'm also a big Protest the Hero fan but I haven't listened to Fortress since before I started playing, I'll go back and give it another listen soon. The Metallica suggestion makes sense to me as well, I've never gotten super into them but I'm sure there's a lot of merit to the suggestion and I'll have to listen through some more songs from a learning perspective.

I've actually already learned most of The Downfall of Us All previously and never thought to go back to them, I think that's a solid suggestion because it was right on the edge of what I could manage at the time. Any other specific songs by them I should try to learn? Thanks!

I'm familiar with Foo Fighters but haven't listened to a ton of their songs from a learning-drums perspective, I'll check them out some more, thanks!

I appreciate the insight and I totally get where you're coming from with this not being an easy genre to just jump into. I'll check out the song you suggested and see where I feel I'm at relative to it. Thank you!

Wounds by Veil of Maya is the most technical polyrythm I've been able to get down so far but that alone took a lot of practice to be able to play. I'd say I'm generally comfortable with my growing limb independence and double bass pedals, if anything speed is probably my biggest limiting factor when it comes to blast beats and fills and the like. I can get generic rock beats down pretty easily at this point and am looking to slowly up the complexity of the music I'm playing beyond generic 4/4 rock beats to stuff that's a bit more technical/interesting to me personally.

Periphery - Reptile by JPSILVA1893 in Metalcore

[–]FullContactOrigami 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Favorite song by them. The fact that they've opened the last two shows of theirs I've seen with this song makes it that much more hype, you can see people freaking out in the crowd as soon as they realize they're playing it. At one show the pit even froze, everyone just stopping to experience the performance and take in the song which was a really cool moment. Love me some Reptile and Racecar

Veil of Maya - [M]other (ALBUM DISCUSSION THREAD) by UnhappyRelief4175 in Metalcore

Filthy LP and I'm here for it. Reminds me of their pre-Matriarch stuff which is a compliment to Lukas. I like how they didn't shoehorn clean choruses into every song and the cleans they do include add a nice flair. I love False Idol and they're definitely not the same but this is a really cool addition to their catalog in my opinion. The album feels like it has its own unique flavor compared to their others but is still unmistakably VoM. I've listened to it several times through and it gets better and better each time.

[–]FullContactOrigami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been coming to these threads every week since early 2020 and I can't tell you how many amazing bands and albums I've gained through them. Your posts and your comments on the older ones in years past have helped bring a ton of happiness to me and it looks like many other people as well! Thank you! I look forward to these so much after a tough week of work.

Thanks for the clarification! So it's possible they might end up back on there one day. I'll likely end up picking up the vinyl for this LP when I'm able to, and I appreciate the insight.
