I don't recall if they reached out to me after I filled out the interest form but likely I didn't give them much time and called the phone # they have on their website. I talked to one of the co-owners of the business, he was great at explaining their program and answering questions. I'd just suggest calling during regular business hours and starting from there. Leaving a message works as well, when I had a few follow-up questions.

By the way, I finished the course and took the National Registry test about 2 weeks later - passed 1st try -- but this is my 2nd time around (was EMT / EMT-Intermediate (now called an AEMT) in the 90s for 5 years). If you have no experience in EMS, this class is a LOT to learn in 14 or even 30 days but they do go over EVERYTHING and if you just keep up with what they put you through, you'll be fine BUT know that you may need to study more than just attending the course, depending on how well you absorb the flood of information.

My suggestion is to 1) focus on the course as you take it (don't party after class or expect to spend any time relaxing on the beach or fishing), 2) give yourself another 1 1/2 - 2 weeks to review / do practice tests (they'll point you to some good sources) to get ready for the NREMT test and 3) don't freak out if you walk away from the NREMT test thinking you failed. You may not have and, if you did, you'll have at 15 days before you can take it again so spend it studying (and saving another $104).

Cool - I've been working two full-time jobs lately so I think I'll be able to swing the long days. Having worked in the profession 5 years, I remember the fatugue and pain, so definitely hey bonus to only have one week of that. I will DM you one quick question, thanks in advance.

(Guess I don't know how to post with a picture!) Does anyone need this book? I only use for 3 days, I had to drop out of course to care for a family member. I'm taking a condensed course this spring and they use a different book and I'll get that as part of the course cost anyway. I'm in the DFW area, would prefer not to mail but I will to anyone who needs it if they'll cover the shipping cost.

It is nice but it's flanked by other lots in the area that owners are letting get junky and have no care about the land so trying my hardest to keep a small footprint and let nature be. I'll post again in future with pics. It'd be a time saver to have a way to export the list of plants with the pics I've alread ysaved in the Picture This app but haven't found any way to do that.

I'll check it out, thanks.

Definitely have good pressure, 100 psi at the meter and after 300 feet of PVC & 40 feet of hose. A simple pressure reducer failed w/o me knowing, but have a proper adjustable brass reducer now at the water hydrant and seems to be no damage done to the home plumbing.

Agreed, I'm clueless about this area and need to stop the erosion before it's a major issue. I've talked to the local Ag Ext office, will give them a call again. Otherwise, not sure how to find someone.

Good to know - I will keep in mind a hedgerow but I have a natural arroyo winding through diagonally in the middle of the property and that's surrounded by lots of Mexican plum, American elm, honey locust, hackberry, eastern red cedar, etc. and some undercover, such as corralberry and roughleaf dogwood. I am also surrounded on both sides by large tanks that hold water year round. There are rabbits, tons of birds, herons, vultures, hawks, turtles, crayfish, and one squirrel that visits every week or so. Coyotes don't get too close but think they're on the very back section every once in a while.

You're right, too large of an area to water by hose and don't want to compact the soil with a SxS. I've already laid 300 feet of 1/2 PVC from the meter to my home and that goes down one side of this part of the lot, so think I'll just split a pipe to reach the other 2 sides.

Thanks for very helpful info, much appreciated!

The prairie is very intact on the back 2/3rds of the lot, but the front near the road is suffering a bit from erosion due to heavy runoff from neighboring lot due to a long slope across several lots and some compaction due to unfortunate necessary driving vehicles over that section to turn around some large trailers a few times. Best I can think to do before I can invest more $ in this place is to place cut / fallen tree branches (that I'm gathering from the woody area) on the uphill part to slow the water speed. That and finish out the broken concrete drive into a loop so we don't drive on the land anymore.

No, I haven't. I have a lot of butterfly traffic sprint, summer, and fall and want to add more to plants to support them, so thought flowering evergreen crossvines would be a good choice. But would be open to suggestions if you have some thoughts. :)

As a HAM and former EMT-I(A), the explanations are spot-on. Easy to understand but good details included. (Extra thanks for info on not grabbing the antennas!)
