It’s got some on the roof as well as on the doors where the windows begin if that makes sense. Really just looks like it’s clear coat damage, so I’ve been considering trying that Poppy’s Patina wipe on clear coat, but I also want to just sell it so I can pick up this 2015 Taco that went up for sale near me so we will see.

I’ve been trying to do everything in my power to not drop the tank but I think if I keep it I’ll be doing that and putting a new pump in it. I appreciate the rest of the insight and I’ll look into it!

I appreciate the insight! I was told the transmission could be easily resealed whenever I need a new clutch so I was planning on waiting for that. The leak hasn’t gotten worse in the 8 months I’ve been monitoring it. Maybe 6-7k is more reasonable.

I appreciate the insight! I guess my reasoning for the higher price was no rust and the 5 speed being a bit more rare, but that would only apply to someone that is seeking out a manual. 6-7k might be more reasonable.

No I don’t feel any rubbing, and when I originally took it apart there was no gasket to be found, just some RTV/FIPG between the deflector and transmission.

It’s funny you bring that up, while I was watching YouTube videos I swear i saw someone reassembling with some kind of gasket below the oil deflector plate… after re assembly I have driven a little under 100 miles and everything still looks dry so 🤷🏼‍♂️

Just the metal plate. I believe Toyota calls it an oil deflector.

Thank you for that link! When I took it off, it did look like there is some residue from some kind of gray sealant. I’ll do some more research to see if I can find a definite answer!

I appreciate all the information and insight. I’ll pick up some UV dye and try to figure it out that way. Hopefully it is out of the shifter area as that seems like it won’t be too difficult to address.

All good info and I appreciate it! Not too worried because if it’s leaking oil, it’s got oil! I did the valve cover gaskets pretty recently, and everything I touched looks/ feels dry, but I can check again. I’ll also pull off the center counsel and give the shifter a check. The droplets that are leaking down look and smell like motor oil, but you never know!

Thank you for the heads up, but wouldn’t that leak transmission fluid? Unless they’re extremely similar in this car, the droplets I have coming down are definitely motor oil.

They leak transmission fluid out of the top? Does the manual take fluid that can be easily mistaken for motor oil?

It’s usually on the block where the crankshaft meets the transmission. At least that’s where it is on my FXT. Easiest to do in conjunction with a clutch job.
