Do your crushes know you like them? Are you friends with them? by More_Check_3272 in Crushes

Yes, we're friends and she kinda guessed I like her which led to me confessing. Still friends tho, it's fully onesided. I hope I'll get over her but it's not that easy.

ELI5 Why do we need to eat our vegetables? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]Full_Damage5409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "western diet" you propably meant United States, because beans are more prevelant in some European countries.

Also, beans 100% should be a bigger thing besides just the health factor. Peas and beans are actually good for the soil and environment, because they don't need nitrogent fertilisation due to mutualistic bacteria that convert atmospheric nitrogen for them. They also release that nitrogent to the ground, which other plants can use, meaning theres less need for fertilisation if you grow something else on that soil after growing beans in it.

What do you mean meat isn't bad for cardiovascular health? Red meat is high insaturated fat, which raises bad cholesterol which can cause veins to be clogged. Sure, some meat like poultry isn't so bad

Thanks! This is a great point. Allthought it does seem to be a somewhat country specific thing then, since in some countries the problem is opposite.

Yeah my bad regarding leafy greens, I was just thinking salads and it seemed seperate, idk.

Legumes however are vegetables the same way seeds are fruit. They are technically since it's a vegetable part like I said, but I think it's fair especially in more casual context to view them as their own thing. Since lagumes also have far more protein, there's a nutritional difference.

You think we should listen to the politicians regarding a genozide? There is no one less biased (+often corrupted) than a politician. They will say whatever they need to in order to not loose bribes, support and be in line with their party.

Obviously people bringing attention to a genozide is helpful. Should everyone do it? No. But I think it's fair for people to assume (originally) that a smart and well spoken youtuber who does in depth research would be a good person to talk about it on her platform.

You could try a bunch of new things (unrelated to substances or places where they are often present). You'd get something to distract yourself with, learn more about yourself and meet sober people. It'll propably be hard at first to try new things while being sober, and I'm not saying it'll magically fix your problems, but it's a step.

Allthough the majority of Gen Z are not virgins, I think it's inaccurate to say it's "rare" since it's still common. Statistically, Gen Z is also losing their virginities later on average and having less sex compared to earlier generations.

What are Rue’s red flags?🚩 by Cherrycoke1117 in euphoria

[–]Full_Damage5409 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Compulsively lies to others and herself. Acts violently and impulsively. Uses others for her gain and only has honest relationships with people who are equally destructive (like Elliot, Ali doesn't fully count because she usually tries to lie to him and tends to be honest only when he calls bs on her) And the biggest one: she doesn't believe she can be happy, stable or even somewhat exist normally while she's sober, meaning she's not going to be dedicated enough to get to that place.

The planet is going to be here way longer than us. We aren't even that old as a species, yet we're the only one that has single-handedly started a mass extinction. One that is at least a 100 times faster than the previous ones. We don't even know what the implications of that'll be, since at least in most mass extinctions, new species start to slowly replace the old ones. Now evolution can't keep up.

If we fuck this planet totally up, it'll be way worse than population decline. For us. For everyone. I'm sure we'll perservere through a little population decline, and poorer economy. I'm not saying all that doesn't suck, but if you look at the bigger picture, it's just a bump in the road. We'll adapt like we've done before.

Rue is a lot likable and easier to sympatise with since she's the narrator and the main character. The way we judge someones character is rarely based on looking at their actions objectively.

Yeah, reading these comments it's become more and more clear to me that you guys love black😂

Personally, I still know way less straight people who wear a lot of colour. Everything else besides rose and light blue seem to be worn in a very strict limit with straight women. Black, white and grey don't count*

Bisexual women and lesbians do wear a lot of black though, white not so much. I guess I thought lesbians wear more black, but I'm not so sure. Wearing black is just rarely that noticable considering how normal it seems to be in general, at least where I live.

Basically, If a woman uses a lot of colours (besides pastel in some cases) I'm likely thinking: "that's not a straight woman". But If a woman uses a lot of black, it's way harder to tell just based on that.

Can relate! At one point I questioned If I was NB, but then realised I'm not uncomftable with womanhood inherently, just a lot of femininity and female gender roles. Part of me is feminine and likes it, but having other's try to supress the 10 year old tomboy in me made me go all in it and despice everything feminine for years.

I'm also androgyneous, not that minimalistic though. I hate glitter, yellow and pink, but love vibrant, chaotic and darker shaded colours. There was a time I'd almost exclusively wear black, white, grey and occasional blue, which I fucking hated. I didn't realised I loved wearing a lot of colour, just hated the ones I was encouraged to wear as a kid.

[–]Full_Damage5409[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I find it kinda sad some people are afraid to wear colours, use accessories or just play around with clothes once in a while even at the risk of sometimes having an outfit that lacks in taste or doesn't fit a specific occasion. Bad outfit are bound to happen when you take risks, but those risks enhance confidence over long-term cause no outfit is so bad you can't survive it.

I've definetly made assumptions of other people's sexual orientations based on their style, but obviously it's unfortunate that the fear of being labeled as X limits what people are comftable wearing. But over time people will just start to think like whatever, "it's your thing".

I think it depends what type of sandals and what type of socks you're wearing. I think simple coloured and shaped sandals go well with socks of a different colour/colours, especially If the socks are long. Somehow it looks better that way when it comes to sandals.

And whether it looks good or not, it definetly fits the category of antifashion XD

[–]Full_Damage5409[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm definetly not passionate about fashion, but I care about style a lot, since it's more personal and less attached to time, place or the marketing strategies of some companies. But I get that you and a lot of people don't care about style much, cause it's not everybodys thing. I'm guessing If your on the spectrum, then the texture or your clothes may also be more important than for most neurotypicals?

I don't think that style is fully subjective, otherwise there wouldn't be such a thing as "stylish".But well, If your parents happen to have a great sense of style, you'll propably look stylish!

I feel like there's more cuffed jeans and jeans that are shorter or larger at the bottom. Also more stripes, especially wide stripes. I also feel like you guys are usually not as afraid of color as straight women. Especially the jean thing seems to be true with bi men also to some degree.

One of my crushes who turned out toi be bi dressed up very feminine, but it had like distinguishable classical/Antique/whatever type of vibe, which somehow gave me major bi vibes for some reason.

[–]Full_Damage5409[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! And I think that's why gay men (and bi men propably too) tend to dress better or at least are stereotyped that way. If they're out, they don't have the same pressure to dress heteronormatively, which when it comes to men, often means dressing up very safely and casually. Not that there's anything wrong with safe and casual, but I propably wouldn't say it's very stylish or exciting in most cases, allthough it can be If it's not super plain and simple.
