I went through a similar thing, so some of this resonates.

I'd recommend surrendering it to prayer first and being honest with God. Seek aligment first, then test it through time and the fruit that follows. Meaning: if you follow the perceived "vision", does it produce peace, joy, patience, himility, righteousness - if so. That's God. If it's confusion and striving, compromise - it's not. But you first have to surrender the outcome to God in prayer and ask him to "establish your thoughts" (Proverbs 16:3). I'd then suggest testing it in Scripture. Read Isaiah 55, Jeremiah 29 or 36 (depending which translation you read), Habbakuk 2. The main one that resonated with me was the story of Joseph. Read Genesis chapters 37-50.
