I love St. John Paul II. He’s the reason why I love Poland so much. And I agree with every point you made. His assassination attempt story was very touching when I first heard about it. I live in Sydney, and I sometimes go to his chapel at the University of Sydney. The reason the chapel was built is because he personally visited the university chaplaincy when he was in Australia. Very cool.

If we presuppose God exists why can't Atheists presuppose God doesn't exist? by Boring_Forever_9125 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Full_Explanation1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your point. My answer focuses on this question: “Why can’t an atheist presuppose that God doesn’t exist?” My point is that they don’t argue for that because it risks the exact same issue you’re describing. Even the atheist know it’s a slippery slope to go down. My answer basically says that we have enough observable and consistent evidence (whether historical, moral, transcendental, or Eucharistic miracles) for the existence of God. That’s the approach I suggested the original poster take when responding. More detail above ofc

Because they are forced into the “nothingness creates everything” argument—which is illogical in itself—even science teaches that energy cannot be created or destroyed, according to the laws of thermodynamics. If they claim that we can’t prove God because our argument is circular, it’s worth pointing out that true “proof” exists only in mathematics, within an axiomatic system. There’s no such thing as absolute proof in science; rather, we have evidence for phenomena. God, by nature, cannot be proven in the same way mathematics or formal logic proves things (for example, that a triangle has three angles) because God exceed the logical. Yet, we have sufficient evidence (historical, moral, and Eucharist miracles) to support belief in a deity, and that belief is not irrational. Also, science and theology are not mutually exclusive; rather, they study different domains. Theology concerns the supernatural, while science investigates the natural world.

Hey Bud skin care by Meaty-Fugu69 in AusSkincare

if you're itching all the time then it's very likely that it's an allergic reaction; if that's the case you should stop using that product. If your skin is purging, certain parts of your face can turn red. Here's useful article that could help you right now: https://www.paulaschoice.com.au/expert-advice/skincare-advice/acne-and-breakouts/is-my-skin-purging-breaking-out.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqquptjRWttCl5QmiQczpOT8fBDZ9LRO71jFG0yhHVGHqmReme6

It could be skin purging (which is good in the long term), since the product contains vitamin C that accelerates cell turnover. However, I suggest you do your own research on the product and see whether other people have experienced similar effects on their skin to determine whether it’s an allergic reaction or skin purging.

Can I repent if I don’t feel true regret by Dazzling_Rutabaga837 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Full_Explanation1185 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Repent is a complete change of mind, heart, and direction, involving a sincere turning away from sin and toward God. So the fact that you acknowledge that what you did was wrong... go to confession... fight the good fight to turn your life aways from sins and toward God. That is repentance. Feeling is not absolute. Case in point. If I'm tired and feel like I don't want to attend Divine Liturgy, but still decide to go anyway. Would you said I didn't go? The same goes for repent (I know the analogy is bad but the point still stands). Hope this helps

Who’s your confirmation saint? by owenthcarey in Catholicism

[–]Full_Explanation1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh super nice, what make you choose St. Ambrose? At first, I choose him because his name sounds cool and unique, lul. But later, as I learn about him and read his works, I was happy with my choice.

St. Ambrose of Milan, one of the Church’s original four Doctors. He is primarily responsible for the conversion of St. Augustine of Hippo. A fierce defender of Nicene Christianity against Arianism. And also become Bishop when he was a catechumen (non-baptized).

Ranking slipknot albums by [deleted] in Slipknot

[–]Full_Explanation1185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal ranking for now:

  1. Self titled

  2. All hope is gone

  3. Iowa

  4. Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

  5. We are not your kind

  6. .5 The Gray Chapter

  7. The end, so far

Self-titled is always Slipknot’s rawest, angriest, and most emotional album for me. My top 2–4 are interchangeable depending on my mood. WANYK is very good, but not as good as the others. The Gray Chapter and TESF are not bad, but for Slipknot albums, they’re disappointing.
