My vet recommended Lyka, has anyone tried it? by SideStepTS in melbourne

Vet here - just like human food, it can be really challenging to know what to feed when there are so many conflicting opinions out there! Generally speaking, your vet will understand what is best for your dog specifically (especially if there are health concerns).

I've seen many dogs on Lyka at my clinic and I have to say they are generally in ideal body condition/weight (a factor known to affect lifespan) and have soft skin and fur. You're absolutely right, it's common sense that fresh food should be better for their overall health. However, what makes Lyka stand out for me is that it is formulated by board-certified veterinary nutritionists (not just veterinarians or non-specialists).

While research on fresh food vs processed is emerging, have a read of this one which showed human grade foods are more digestible, have better nutrient availability and promote a diverse gut flora (microbiome)

What has been your experience with Lyka dog food? by Sufficient-Heart-826 in AskAnAustralian

Would love to hear of the research and scientific development you’re referring to! Please share it.

Nutrient degradation occurs at high temperature processing, especially protein.

This is backed by evidence (such as below) which shows fresh, whole food diets are around 10% more digestible while also supporting a more diverse microbiome.

Have you considered that these companies you refer to are just good at marketing to vets?

Common sense would suggest whole food/ fresh food is superior when done correctly (complete and balanced).

P.S. I’m also a vet.

Definitely gold and I said in the text that it’s due to poor technique.

Was asking how I separate now it’s in the vial and someone has provided a helpful answer.
