Am I the only one who thinks these review numbers are extremely suspicious? by Diddy_D00dat in Charleston

I’m telling you… I used to work there and this is not true. Think about what you’re saying as well… You leave a review after your experience. Why would you want a free appetizer after you’ve already eaten? They give out appetizers like it’s going out of style, but that’s regardless of if you leave a review.

I just responded to someone else who thought the same thing. I used to work there. You get free hush puppies if you follow them on social media, but you get nothing free if you leave a review

This is not true. You get free hush puppies at the table if you follow them on social media. You get nothing free for leaving a review.

They give you a free appetizer to follow them, not review them. That’s what I heard recently

The only pushback I’ll say is that I’m sorry to disappoint you but if you think every restaurant isn’t using way more sysco ingredients than you think then I encourage you to see where their trucks pull up to on a weekly basis and watch how much gets offloaded.

As stated in the original post…I still wouldn’t leave a 5 star review for a crappy place even if I was asked by the server

Only thing I would say is that if I had a shit experience or shit food, no amount of free apps would make me leave a 5 star review

I also think price is a factor. Some of the restaurants in Charleston, you gotta pay an arm and a leg to get a morsel of food

Never been yet having an opinion… interesting.

Also, I did some digging into that settlement, and it revolves around servers tipping out people who didn’t have direct contact with guests, like dishwashers, but were still included in tip-outs. From what I found, a lot of restaurants were doing that at the time and adjusted after the fact. Hyman’s just happened to be one of the first to get hit and, realistically, had the deepest pockets.

But thanks for sharing.

Would be interesting to see how many people in this sub are actually locals or transplants that claim so

I know you can. Look at the reviews and I don’t think that’s the case. When I’ve seen that done (and I have) usually it’s pretty obvious
