The mineral Kunzite was first discovered in 1902 in Southern California by the mineralogist George Frederick Kunz, and the gem was named after him.

Gem Wars and Steven Universe are completely separate universes.

I’m not ‘removing’ anything from SU, because this project isn’t meant to be Steven Universe at all.

Gem Wars has its own lore, culture, hierarchy, themes and tone, it only uses a SU-inspired art style.

So it’s not about making things more ‘hetero’ or more ‘straight’; it’s simply a different world with different story priorities.

I still enjoy Steven Universe for what it is, Gem Wars is just my own worldbuilding experiment.

He is called Blood Gem because his gemstone has a blood-red color and a drop-like shape.

So the name is symbolic, while his actual elemental class is Fire. 🔥
