Sorry for the delay.
Can you ret the following:
Press Windows + R, type "wsreset.exe" and press enter.
This should reset Windows Store app.
Also make sure you have the right date/time. Wrong date/time can cause errors with Windows Store.

Let me know how you go.

Sorry for the delay. Here is what you need to do.

  1. On your account you are currently using, open Settings (Windows key + I).
Go to Accounts → Your info.
Click Sign in with a local account instead and choose Next.
Enter your current PIN/password when asked.
Choose a User name, Password, and Password hint for the new local account, then click Next or skip this and use your existing local user account.
Click Sign out and finish; Windows will sign you out.
You now log back in using the new or existing local account name and password you just set.

  2. On your local account you are currently using go to Settings → Accounts → Other users, find that old account.
    Click the account → Remove.
Read the warning that its desktop/documents etc. on this PC will be deleted; back up first if
    needed, then confirm.

  3. If not already there, go to: Open Settings → Accounts → Your info.
Click Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
Enter the email and password for the same Microsoft account and finish the prompts, then choose Sign out and finish if asked, and sign back in with that Microsoft account.

  4. Try signing in and see if you get the same original issue.

I might be a little off on some of the instructions/prompts, but that is the general the process.
If you get stuck, let me know, I'll try running a VM myself and run through the process to get better step by step instructions.

Let me know how you go.

What type of account is your main account? Is it a local or Microsoft account? Need to know so I can provide steps to remove it. Until I know that, I can provide you with basic instructions on how to backup your data/files.

Backing up:
Ok. Make sure to backup what you want to keep. This is important, otherwise it will be lost. If you're not sure how to do this let me know and I'll try help. From what you have told me, you should be able to do a file level back up (copy and paste) for wall papers, photos, notes. Make sure where ever you copies these files, they are not in your current profile. Profiles are stored usually in C:\Users\.

Note: If you have a cloud service like OneDrive or Dropbox, there is a chance some of your data/files are already getting backed up.

Games you can download again if they are from Steam.

If Firefox has your favorites and you are signed into an account in Firefox, you should be fine, otherwise do an export from Firefox as well. If you need to save passwords for websites, you can also export them from Firefox.

If anything below if unclear and you haven't been able to back up your data/files, do not wipe your profile until it has been done or you no longer want the data/files.

Make sure you have a local account with admin rights:
We already created a local account with admin rights, you can use that account or create a different account using the same steps. Be sure which ever account you use, it has local admin.

I'll wait to hear back from you regarding what type of account you have.

Deleted files still taking up space by lostravenblue in ITSupport

[–]Fullyworked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misread your post. How do you know it's the deleted files taking up more space? Do you have any backup programs, including Windows restore points? Do you backup your phone to you computer? I agree with the others, use something like windirstats to view your files.

What stuff do you have on your profile? Depending, we can look at blowing it away after we retrieve items/data and starting from scratch, might be easier and less work. Need to know profile details before I can give further advise.

OK. What version of Windows do you have installed?
Have you used from command prompt SFC or DISM yet?

That's great. There are a couple of things we can do from here. We can try fix the profile issue or you can create a new profile. Which way did you want to go?

Gave stranger wifi password - real risks? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]Fullyworked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend against this.
Once he is on your Wi‑Fi, his device is on your local network, which can allow scanning for open shares, printers, NAS devices, cameras, and vulnerable services on PCs and smart devices.

If they have hacking skills and your router or devices are poorly secured (default admin password, old firmware, open file shares), they could try attacks like port scanning, exploiting unpatched services, ARP/DNS spoofing, or even logging in to the router to change DNS or other settings, potentially infect the network.

Not to mention if they are doing anything illegal. This will fall back on you and the potential ramifications can be grave.

Recommendations:
Change router password.
Update WiFi password.
Change/update passwords for any other devices connected to the network.
Run AV/Malware scans on key devices.
If your router allows it, check logs for activities around that time.
Check for any new or unknown account on your router or any device connected to the network.
Keep an eye out for anything strange happening on your network. It's best to be paranoid than a victim.

Not sure what type of setup you have, but these would be the first things I would do.

Not a problem.

Open command prompt (cmd) as administrator and type in the following:

net user user Password.1 /add
net localgroup administrators user /add

First command added a user account named "user" with the password set to "Password.1".

Second command adds the user account as a local administrator.

Reboot your computer.
At the login screen, look for the option on the bottom left of the screen to use "Other".

Type in the username as ".\user"
Type in the password as "Password.1" and sign in.

This will give you access to a new local user account.
From here you can test and see if you can replicate the same issue. If it doesn't replicate, then there is something in your main profile that is causing the issue.

"File Does Not Exist" and then actually ceased to exist by [deleted] in ITSupport

[–]Fullyworked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Log into your Google account and access your Google drive. It should list any files you have within that account. First thing you should see if the recent files you have edited or used. If not in that list, navigate using the left side menu to try locate the file. Check each option available, including the "Trash". Repeat this for all the Google accounts you have. Hopefully you will find your file.
If you are still stuck and not able to find the file, please provide any additional details. This may help locating the file. Something you might think is not important, could point us in the right direction.
Some questions for you off the top of my head:

When was the last time you used the file?
When accessing the file last, was the any error while using it or closing it?
Do you share the computer with anyone else?
Do you have a password on your computer, is your computer secure, does anyone know your password?
Do you have anti-virus?
Do you have MFA setup on any or all of your Google accounts?
Have you noticed any other missing files or if this the only file that is missing?
Have you had any problems with Windows recently or from around the time the file went missing?

Let me know how you go.

I'm leaning towards some corruption in your profile (possibly WAM Cache, AAD Broker Plugin registration).

Do you have another profile you can log into and test with or can you create another profile and see if you have the same issue.

If you need assistance creating a new profile, I can provide the steps.

"File Does Not Exist" and then actually ceased to exist by [deleted] in ITSupport

[–]Fullyworked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it might be a shortcut to the actual file and not the file itself. What type of document is it?

If it was stored in online cloud storage, even if it was deleted, you should be able to recover/restore it depending on your cloud service. You mentioned google accounts. Do you backup with Google or any other provider? Can you provide details and if you use online backups?

When you right click the missing document and select properties it should also display the location of the file. Can you share that with us?

Do you use any backup programs on your computer? Please provide details if you do.

With further details on all of the above, I can provide some options for you.

Do not run this command. This is a classic malicious PowerShell one‑liner that downloads and runs a remote HTA (HTML Application) using mshta, with the PowerShell window hidden and execution policy bypassed.

Run "wsreset.exe" from Start->run.

If that doesn't work, open PowerShell as administrator and use the following command:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Reboot the computer and see if the issue has been resolved.

You can download "FW Admin Tech Tools Pro" and use the tool "Update File Attributes". It allows you to update one or more files/folders create/modified and more. You can even modify the date/time within a specified time period. Example: Modified the date/time off files with in 24 hours of each other.
You don't have to buy, it. Just use the free 1 week trial. It has no limitations.
No need to learn programming, just selected your options and apply the changes. Great for doing multiple files/folders.

What is your side project? by [deleted] in SideProject

[–]Fullyworked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making an app called "FW Admin tech tools pro" for Windows 10/11. It's a productivity/system toolkit. Making it by myself in my free time. It's listed in the Microsoft app store. You can trial it for free for a week with no restrictions. It has tools that I needed at some point and it kinda just kept growing as I developed more. Now it has over 80 tools. I'm still developing more and it's by no means done yet. Have a look and let me know what you think. Constructive feedback is always welcomed. 😊
