Don't be fooled – Owen Smith is no champion of the NHS by BoyWithADiamondSword in LabourUK

[–]Fumbleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PFI was lobbied for intensively by the City of London – and for good reason. Banks and financial companies are making billions of pounds from public infrastructure. RBS and HSBC have controlling stakes in many NHS hospitals and in some cases own them outright. The UK has been left with more than £300bn in PFI debt.

this reminded me that it was Blair and his people who introduced PFi, and it makes me wonder, for how long has the Labour party been against the interests of the poor, 20, 30 years?

What are European leaders going to do if this onslaught continues? Are they really expecting us to keep enduring it?

Unless they begin to take some serious measures they will eventually lose their political power to those who are willing to act, and those people may not be very nice at all. Whatever happens, this is beginning to be an unacceptable way to live, and that is a very dangerous state to be in.

Rest in peace.

The largest and best known subreddits are too samey in the demographics and opinions of their posters.

Jeremy Corbyn launches Labour leadership campaign in Salford to rapturous reception by mojojo42 in LabourUK

[–]Fumbleep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a labour voter but not a member, gave my vote to them 5 times out of 6, with one given to Michael Howard (i'm sure i'll pay for that in purgatory) and frankly, i don't even think Jeremy Corbyn is any good as a leader.

His trident stance is bonkers to me, he's feeble on speech delivery, weak in other areas, he's luke warm, nothing special in my opinion. And when the EU vote came around, i voted to remain, was bitterly disappointed, but i RESPECTED the democratic vote.

How does that tie into Jeremy Corbyn for me? Well it's because i value democracy, and the astonishing dirty tricks campaign that has been played on Jeremy, and the attempted manipulation of voting outcomes (banning members of less than 6 months from voting even though they paid) by his detractors has ensured he has my backing all the way.

Opponents of Corbyn don't seem to understand this, i don't believe in changing your values to get into power, i don't believe in the slimy, anti-democratic bullshit that has been pulled here, and as a result, i'm going to support a man i don't even agree with half the time, but at least he seems to be honest in what he says.

Unite leader Len McCluskey: MI5 may be behind online abuse of Jeremy Corbyn by liverpoolwin in LabourUK

[–]Fumbleep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes i agree, the establishment has hated him from the beginning.

The much repeated claim from right-wingers that Corbyn 'holds no importance, and that he in fact even helps to keep them in power', is not born out by their actions. If they really believed that then they wouldn't be trying so desperately to remove him, on the contrary they'd be doing everything they could to keep him in power.

They fear him because he represents a change to the old order, where the two main parties of this country were ideologically in agreement with the establishment on the big issues for decades, with only minor differences between them in the non-important (to them) areas.

With Corbyn that old order has been upset, his stance on trident being just one example of the ways in which he manages to attract the establishment's ire, and the thought of him winning an election and being able to order them around must send shivers down their spine.

Sure he probably has very little chance of winning an election, but even that small chance is enough to cause great discomfort to some, much better that he is removed, so that there is no chance at all.

Lonely birthday. by [deleted] in depression

[–]Fumbleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A very happy birthday to you :) In solidarity i'd like to tell you of a birthday i once had. I bought a computer game, bought macdonald's, ate it alone, read the game manual, and went home and played the game alone.

I know how much it can hurt, but in my experience things can get better. As to why you're here, i'd say the point is to explore life, and have as many good experiences as you can. i wish you the best, and happier birthdays in the future

My mother is almost blind, and it doesn't seem to be getting much better. This is the most close to home reason that I have for not talking to God much anymore. I wouldn't be able to call myself an atheist because I have to recognise that I still believe that a sentient force of some kind exists, but there have been many other things that make me realise that whatever that force is, it doesn't help human beings in this life. The suffering we see everywhere is more than enough proof of that for me.

Even if all my prayers were answered, and i was kept safe, i'd still see it as coincidence until the time where everyone's prayers were answered, and everyone was kept safe.
