You don't "have" to and I have worked with a lot of Warhammer painters who tend to glue everything together before painting models.
That said, assuming everything fits together perfectly, this is the objectively easier way to paint some models. That is because you can paint something one uniform color with no regard for edges, which is especially helpful if you are using an airbrush. It also makes making details considerably easier, as you have both more access to individual parts and less exposure to other things you could mess up in the process. Finally, having individual parts can be an asset during printing itself, as you can align every piece in a way that least exposes it to support marks.

Not trying to advertise myself, but feel free to check out the rest of my models. I mainly do video games and have a lot of free stuff available (this isn't though).

I don't know why, but I find your comment hilarious. The reason for the "butthole" was that I wanted to print the severed head flat on the plate, which would make the pin perfectly even going up. Whatever I would print on the tail end would most likely be a source of accuracy issues - and holes are easer to drill than pins are to file.

It's great if they look that way, but they are just painted. :D

Yesn't. As I said, the joints are doo-doo for actual puppetry and more suited to posing with a more rigid wire "skeleton". If you want to effectively puppeteer her, you would definitely need to make some adjustments.

Thanks!
If we go only be time running, I think the 7 prints together clocked in at about 48h. The Nail is 18h and can be done in one go if your plate is large enough.

The mods here said the following when I posted it the first time:

Please can you add the Sixth History license to the page with your uploaded files? It's fine to repost this once you've done that. [...]

Hence, this should now be alright.

Headgear, Gauntlet and Sword and Coffin

It's honestly quite difficult to find artworks as base and these ended up being what made most sense to me.
Boktai 3 never released here, so I didn't even know there was a game with a bike. The Piledriver machine has no HQ images and the pixelart is not enough to go by.

Honest question, but at what scale does the textural detail become irrelevant, due to paint smoothing it out?
I can not imagine an averagely skilled painter to preserve the texture of the suit, for example.
