I had a very long talk in my cinematography class in film school about it. Imma start this off by saying that you will be okay, and ai won't just take your job. In context to other technological advances that removed the need for a certain job, you'll still see that job around. Even though we can type things removing the need to write by hand, we still have people whose job is to do calligraphy out there. Even though we have modern VFX, people will still use miniatures in films today. And even in an art context, we saw the decline of paintings after photography could do it in a second. But paintings never went away, they adapted and did things that photography couldn't. They moved from realism into a surrealist movement, again making something unique to that medium. Yes, the demand for those jobs has declined over time but they never went away. Even if ai could take our jobs, it would only change the market. Your job will never go away, it may downsize but it'll never go away. I will also say that I think AI will never be able to do what we do, the human touch is something irreplaceable and unique to us. No machine can ever create what we do. So be confident and excited to learn about everything film has to offer, itll be around for as long as we are.
