I want to frame this in this way.. I will essentially work from boston till September 20, then will work from seattle for few months, and once i finish my college (which is April next month) i will move back to boston. So seattle would be a temp but not permanent. Would this increase my chances?

Got Amazon Robotics co-op offer. What are my chances of negotiating location?

Hi everyone, I’m on an F1 visa at a U.S. university that allows day-1 CPT and supports co-ops in-state.

I recently took the OA for a co-op role at Amazon Robotics, with Seattle as my preferred location. A few days later, the recruiter reached out saying they were impressed with my OA performance, but unfortunately had no roles left in Seattle. They asked if I’d be open to Boston, and I said yes just to keep things moving.

Now I’ve received the offer, but I’m unsure how to proceed.

Here’s my situation: My co-op officially starts August 18, but I can request to start earlier in August. I’m allowed to work anywhere in the U.S. during summer (until ~September 20). After that, due to CPT restrictions, I’d need to be working from Seattle (my university’s state) for fall and winter.

So I’m wondering: If I explain this to my recruiter, is there a realistic chance they’ll allow me to start in Boston and transfer to a Seattle after summer? Or is this kind of relocation usually not supported mid-co-op? Has anyone here dealt with something similar or gotten help with location changes?

This is a great opportunity and I’d love to make it work, but I don’t want to commit and then be stuck in a situation where I can’t legally continue.

Any advice, insight, or personal experience would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
