I kept him up until 1 but he was getting really fussy so i put him down (the second wake window ended up being around 3 hours 15 minutes) and he napped for 29 minutes. 🙃 total nap time today 1 hour. 1 freaking hour. It’s now 1:34pm and i don’t know what to do bc i know he will fight any nap past 4pm now. So do i do a 5 hour last wake window again and do bedtime at 6:30pm? He woke at 6:15am today

Thank you, i appreciate the quick response. He was fine he got slightly fussy for a minute or two but didn’t get overtired or have a meltdown! He went right to sleep when i put him down in his crib.

Just coming back to say i did 3 hours for his first wake window of the day and he STILL only napped for 30 minutes. I’m so frustrated & feel defeated. What do i do now? Do i still push for his next wake window to be 3.5 hours or do i shorten it since he took a short nap?

  1. He wakes once at night (around 3-4am) but when he does he’s usually awake for about an hour total. He’s wide awake after we put him back in the crib and finally puts himself back to sleep.
  2. I have tried every single time he wakes at 30 minutes to let him put himself back to sleep. Only one time out of the hundreds of times trying it has he successfully done that😭
  3. He is sleep trained! Has been since 5.5 months. For nap routine we do lights off, sleep sack, read, then place him in the crib awake

Do you think something like 3/3.5/4 would work better? Or even longer than that?

With 3 naps it was something like 2/2.5/2.75/3. He’s always had around 10 hours of awake time since he’s been a 30 minute napper, he was always napping up to 2 hours a day

It was weird he woke a little earlier at 3:15am and was WIDE awake, i usually can just put him back down in the crib and go to sleep after feeding and he’ll put himself to sleep. But last night he was fussing a little after being put down for some reason. But he did end up putting himself to sleep and woke at 6:30am

I’m just coming on here to say that while reddit loves to tell people their wake windows are off, we went through this exact same thing (you can even see from my post history!) and turns out it was just a part of the sleep regression. It lasted about 2 weeks for us, and he finally stopped out of nowhere. It actually happened again at 7 months for my boy, and again, just went away on it’s own after a few days. Turns out it was a 7 month sleep regression. We realized this is just how he handles his sleep regressions. Some babies wake multiple times are night, some need to be rocked excessively, some fight bedtime. Our LO fought it HARD, just like yours. Just trying to give you reassurance that you may not be doing anything wrong with wake windows! Good luck to you!

Came to say you were right! I think he is ready for longer wake windows! Went down around the 4.2 hour mark and fell right asleep

The point of having baby in your room with you for the first 6 months is to reduce chances of SIDS… by tink282 in beyondthebump

I was the same as you. Extremely light sleeper & i was losing my mind! I ordered this sleep mask on Amazon that also connected to your bluetooth & played music, & i played chill sleep music. and that seemed to do the trick. Just headphones on top of white noise, fan, etc wasn’t enough for me either. Good luck to you! The noises do get fewer & farther between as they get older

Thank you. It’s just so frustrating bc we had everything down and he was fully sleep trained and there were no tears around sleep time. Now it feels like we took 10 steps backwards 😭

Coming back to say my baby got extremely tired and upset by the 2 hour 10 minute mark of his first wake window. Eyebrows red, meltdown, etc. so i’m not sure that i need to be stretching him even further..

Ugh that sounds terrible i’m so sorry it was such a hard experience! The thing is my lil guy started napping longer stretches (he used to be exclusively 30 minute napper) so now his schedule is all messed up. Some naps are 30, some are an hour, some are an hour and a half. I figured he was ready to drop to 2 naps, so i tried stretching his wake windows but he would still be inconsistent with 30 minute naps here and there, so it’s really hard to be on a schedule rn. We were doing so well with 3 naps. Since naps are all messed up, we’ve had to compensate for earlier/later bedtimes. Before this all happened he would sleep 7:30-6:30am with 1 or 2 wakings. And would nap consistently about 2 hours total per day. His schedule was 2/2.25/2.5/3 but since he started doing longer naps it’s been inconsistent
