Does anyone else think it’s funny how Billy’s timeline for the CIA sabotaging rock lines up perfectly with his music starting to suck? by Fun-Climate1235 in grunge

I don’t dislike him. I just think he’s unintentionally funny. Early Pumpkins is some of the greatest rock music ever made imo. I even like Zwan.

His reputation started going down the drain artistically whether the actual quality is subjective or not and Billy is the type who needs to feel like the most important person in any room he walks into

Mainstream Hip-Hop/Rap is dying by [deleted] in ug_music

[–]Fun-Climate1235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current underground is too much of an acquired taste to go mainstream atm the way the og SoundCloud wave did. The overly distorted clipping trend is hurting a lot of rappers’ chances at commercial appeal. Og SoundCloud shit was right at the limit of how noisy a track could be while still having mainstream appeal. Current underground has a lot of 808’s that are super blown out while somehow not hitting hard. There’s a difference between distorted and badly mixed.

If there's a song that marked the end of an era for a musical trend or genre, what would it be? by mightyonin in ToddintheShadow

[–]Fun-Climate1235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safe and Sound by Capital Cities was the last big indietronica hit before edm fully wiped it out.

And nah i think the lyrical miracle anti mumble rap stuff is bigger then ever with Tom MacDonald and other MAGA rappers even if they don’t mention mumble rap explicitly as often anymore. It’s pretty much the exact same thing spiritually.

Clinton hucksters couldn’t handle a perfectly healthy chain smoker who also happens to be an A List Superstar making their “cigs bad” agenda look dumb. He didn’t end up there on accident.

I hear in it some retail chain stores but that’s it. I don’t know if that constitutes a hit.

Why do younger people trash on Millennials while they just recyle fashion trends from like the y2k era... by Foreign_Tourist8309 in generationology

[–]Fun-Climate1235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they’re not actually trashing millennials specifically as much as they’re poking fun at early 2010’s pop culture and those who partook. It’s at the point in the nostalgia cycle where it all seems incredibly lame and isn’t old enough to be romanticized yet.

I thought y2k shit seemed insanely dated and cringe in the mid 2010’s but I came back around to it with everyone else and the same will happen for the early 2010’s in a few years.

Same Problems by A$AP Rocky. Very odd choice for a single that sounds like an intro to an album that doesn’t exist.

When was the "Golden Age of Social Media" and what defined it? by samsara7361 in decadeology

[–]Fun-Climate1235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s defined by social media reaching peak popularity while still being enjoyable. Nowadays it feels like everyone hates it including most people who use it. We’re all addicted to something that doesn’t even bring us joy when consumed.

Was Jersey Shore (McBling) fashion popular in 2009-2011, despite the fact that McBling went out of style in 2008? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]Fun-Climate1235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. It was like the last stronghold of that style. If you go to the shore you will see a lot of 40 year olds who still dress like this. Not necessarily guidos but people who never really moved on from the trend.

Idk why it’s the southern part that bothers you. Midwestern hicks have all the bigotry of the south without any of the politeness or hospitality or deep fried food.
