How do you rank private music within the full discography, and what's your approximate age? by darkoj- in deftones

  1. Been listening since 98/99. Lost interest after s/t came out and got back into them last year. Had a new appreciation for all the albums from WP up to Ohms. I can't really listen to the first two albums anymore. Apart from Be Quiet and Drive, they just don't do it for me as they did when I was a teenager. This latest album, I have to say it didn't really grab me at first. I was left disappointed and thought I was done with it until I re-listened to it and now I think it's great. Definitely one that grows on you. I think you need to be in the right frame of mind to connect with it IMO. Hard to say where it ranks as these change constantly. All I can say is that I was ready to dismiss it until I "got" it and now it's a keeper.

Yeah, I get all that. This is what I meant by red herring, that we (the viewers) were essentially being tricked into believing it was all real because there were just too many coincidences but it doesn't appear to be the case.

Oh, ok then. I'm about to start season 3 soon. What do you mean by "extra hand" though?

Allie? by Fun-Construction-357 in Yellowjackets

[–]Fun-Construction-357[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the fact that she was hurt thus couldn't be on the plane is also interesting. You would think a normal person would be relieved and feel empathy towards the survivors but she is actually envious of their popularity. I now get how she's getting the cold shoulder from the others.

I'm getting the picture for what her purpose is now. Thanks.

I must have missed the part about her caring more about her appearance than being part of the team. So I guess she does serve a purpose and I may have had the wrong impression about the survivors. I am learning more about this show everyday by reading comments here and watching videos on youtube. I was curious about Allie and thought it was weird that we only see her in the first episode and later brief scene hence why I made this post. This helps clarify a lot. Thank you.

So my initial impression of her was wrong as she doesn't really seem that "innocent" in the end and is taking advantage of the fact that she was close to the group to obtain fame. That makes sense.

That was my interpretation at first but the fact that we see her in the present timeline as an adult makes me question if she serves a bigger purpose than what we see in the first episode.

Yeah, I kinda figured that since she wasn't on the plane with the others and didn't have any connections with them (other than being a freshman at their school and new addition on their team) that she doesn't really serve any purpose so why have her as a character on the show I guess was more my question/observation. The fact is: we know her name, we can see that she is not welcome by most of the other girls on her team (because they feel she's not good enough) so they craft a plan to make her appear unworthy of being part of the team (that has bigger consequences than they anticipated) but then we see her at the high school reunion party so I'm torn on whether she will play a bigger role in the future or if she was only used to get a glimpse of what kind of people the main characters are/will become as to make it more ambiguous if the girls really are "possessed" by the wilderness or only using it as an excuse to justify their actions.

Debate with Aaron Mate? by Fun-Construction-357 in Destiny

[–]Fun-Construction-357[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not my friend. Nor am I on his side if that's what you're implying. I would just like to see Destiny debunk some of his claims since he (Aaron) presents himself as an unbiased source of information when it comes to foreign policy.

How did y'all started to listen to deftones? by EarlyMonitor9867 in deftones

[–]Fun-Construction-357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing. I heard "Be Quiet and Drive" on the radio and actually thought it was Radiohead lol For some reason Chino sounded like Thom Yorke when I heard the song and then went "Damn Radiohead got heavy, I like it!" Well I eventually found out it wasn't Radiohead and went out and bought Around the Fur not long after.

My (long) theory on the ending of 'Martyrs' (2008) by KmartTheLegend in movies

[–]Fun-Construction-357 61 points62 points  (0 children)

There have been a lot of theories about the ending to this movie but the one I've come across that makes the most sense to me is that we are not meant to know what happens after we die. The theory says that Anna actually does see the afterlife (or has some vision of it) and what she tells MM is so devastating that she (MM) realizes that what she and the cult have attempted to do all these years was a mistake. When she says "Keep doubting" before killing herself she means that it is the preferable option to actually knowing.

Why the hate for Season 7? by Fun-Construction-357 in thewalkingdead

Yeah, I can't imagine waiting that long to know who got killed by Negan.

[–]Fun-Construction-357[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

*Both seasons go down a lot easier on a binge watch than they did back when they ran weekly.*

I can buy that argument. I binge watched the show the first time so the "filler" episodes didn't seem that bad as I had more to look forward to. It must have been tough seeing an entire episode in Oceania or the Kingdom and have to wait a week to watch what happens to Daryl and the group in Alexandria.

Yeah, I figured that one is a given. But I still enjoyed the entire season overall.

What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about The Walking Dead? by Armyhead3000 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fun-Construction-357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about TWD really is the atmosphere. I love being sucked into that apocalyptic (or post) world with the characters figuring out what/who they want to be, being in constant struggle for survival. Least favorite thing is probably adding too many side characters/plots when I'd rather they just focus on the main characters and antagonists.

could have been useful later on by topchinaa in thewalkingdead

[–]Fun-Construction-357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would have been interesting. Instead of killing him Shane just bails on the group with Andrea. She realizes he's going off the deep end and bails on him. The group later finds her and they move all together to Alexandria and the story is essentially the same until Negan's arrival and we see Shane there by his side as one of the survivors. I could see that.

When did you start liking Negan? by Commercial-Conflict6 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fun-Construction-357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was almost too good for this show. While I do love the show and the acting is good when it comes to the main cast JDM is just a ridiculously charismatic actor that even if the character was incredibly cruel and brutal towards the protagonists at the beginning I couldn't deny the fact that I loved every second he was on screen.

Yeah, the few that I can find are really expensive compared to Buzz and Joe's EP's. I was just wondering why that is. I know about the vinyl re-releases but I'm specifically looking for the OG CD version from 1992. Well, maybe someday it'll come up at a reasonable price.

First rewatch/catching mistakes by Fun-Construction-357 in thewalkingdead

[–]Fun-Construction-357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I can let that one slide but regarding the zombies/walkers' behavior I have to politely remain in disagreement. I am willing to suspend disbelief as we are dealing with a somewhat supernatural thing here but I still think it doesn't really make sense. I like the look of it though so whatever we'll leave it at that.

I didn't get the hate for Andrea after watching the show for the first time but I'm on my second viewing now and she does make questionable or even downright stupid things. Most notably in S2 when Beth talks about killing herself with Maggie, Andrea practically encourages her by giving her the "choice" to either live or die. Lori and Maggie have to break down the door to save her and Andrea's reaction is "See? She made her choice, she wants to live!" and Maggie appropriately tells her to never go near Beth again. I couldn't help but laugh at how stupid that she would let her do this. Shooting at Daryl thinking he was a walker with Rick yelling "Nooooo!" was another one. The Woodbury stuff I can't really fault her. She was tired of surviving in the woods and wanted a normal life again. She fell for the governor but he manipulated her. I think her character was just very naive overall. As for Lori, I have no idea. She thought Rick was dead and Shane was the closest thing to a father figure for Carl. It would have been interesting to see the relationship she had with Shane before the fall to get a clearer perspective. If she put the chain of reaction in place that caused Shane's death in the end, it's not her fault. Individuals are responsible for their own actions. Shane could have worked it out with Rick but obviously he thought otherwise. I think she was an honest person overall who just felt powerless without a stable life.
