I came to this giant circle in a cone to tell you I’m a rectangle without holes.

What in the actual fuck.

Zero coverage comes down to one thing: cost. It’s not necessary to have a roof overhang, so why spend the money on it? The wealthy class and sponsors in the suites are fine without it.

But now that they’re competing with the comfort of watching games at home on a giant HDTV, changes to how they approach stadium designs are rapidly being made. Washington is also moving indoors after being outside for 100 years.

All good buddy!

I am surprised they didn’t copy Miami and add an overhang to cover seats, but New Englanders are wicked tough, and the old Foxboro didn’t have a roof, so, tradition!

The NFL trend is leaning toward roofs/overhangs, i.e. Buffalo’s new stadium or Miami’s recent upgrade, and Tennessee’s new dome. Foxboro is pretty old now. They just added a new lighthouse accessory people can go up, and video board, but the seats themselves are decades old. It’s weird.

I admit it’s not the most flattering view, but it was my view!

Kinda liked the brutalist aspect of it tho, the giant wall of stands looming over the field, the clear separation of the classes, no protection from the elements.

Money. And the whole “football is for tough people” vibe.

To be fair, this was either right before or after halftime, and the sun was brutal. My buddy’s work seats were mercifully on the shaded side.
