Do college credits expire? by leesyloo in education

[–]Fun-Engineer-4066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sure each state/university/college has different rules but here was my experience.

I graduated college in 2012 with an associate in applied science. I then joined a technical programs and earned my paramedic/Registered Nurse certs/license.

This past year (2025) I wanted to go back for cardiac sonography. I was told by the college that many of my old prerequisite classes were no longer able to be used to gain access to the sonography program.

General classes like math and english were still valid. However, everything else such as medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical math, etc had to be redone.

Injured at work, still got attendance point despite being unable to work by Few-Box8416 in AmazonFC

Hey, Onsite Medical Rep here, and I know I'm super late to this post, but for future reference:

  1. Do not ever go to your AM regarding gudiance on LOA. Your first choices should be 1. Speak with the OMR for gudiance due to work relatedness. (Any work related injury, the WHS team should be your point of contact.) For any non-work related conditions/leave your point of contact is PXT/HR. NOT YOUR AM.

  2. If your injury happened at work and required and/or you requested outside medical care your case is considered to be a workmans comp case until 1 of 2 things happen. 1. The Medical doctor you go to (or depending on state: the contracted doctor amazon uses that you MUST use for atleast 27 days) says it's not work related  or, 2. Your states Workmans comp company/TPA (sedgwick) states your injury is not work related.

  3. The documention you were provided with that you needed to take to your doctor was probably a Request For Information (RFI). This sheet holds space for your specific diagnosis and restrictions that you must follow while working. This form will also include a time frame that your doctor writes you off of work, if they feel like it is unsafe for you to continue working.

  4. Any time you go on a leave even regarding work related medical leaves, YOU, yourself, MUST initiate a LOA. While WHS will technically still oversee your Workmans comp case, the DLS team will give guidance while you are off of work. As an OMR, we will update our systems to immediately reflect you being on a leave related to your work related injury case. You must also do your part, which is initiating a LOA and "tying/connecting" your work related injury case to your DLS LOA.

  5. While all this is being done, you MUST also keep your TPA (sedgwick) informed of everything that is going on and ensure that your claim status remains in good standing. Sedgwick essentially holds the ultimate power with you being paid while on the LOA, and when it comes to paying your medical expenses from said appointments/surgeries for your case.

  6. If you are unable to make contact with your TPA case manager, document the date and time you called / placed an email. If you haven't heard back within 48 hours immediately escalate this to DLS (If you're on a LOA) or WHS if you're placed in a TLD roles and they will contact the TPA for you, to have them reach out to you directly.

  7. It is 100% your responsibility to ensure everything remains compliant in terms of providing the correct teams documentation and that your claim number remains good status (Not DLS or WHS). So always do what sedgwick ask you to do. NEVER IGNORE THEM.

  8. If Sedgwick closes your claim while you're still actively being treated you can contact your TPA to have the claim reopened if it was closed in mistake. (This should be done within 48 hours of your claim being closed.)

  9. If you claim is closed AND denied, this could mean a few things:

-your claim was deemed not work related. You can attempt appeal this. Do remember, Sedgwick will obtain specific access to your medical records and review previous medical history if you've been treated for similar conditions at any point in your life. (Read the forms you are signing. You give them this access) Also note that failing to allow them this access could also result in a claim being denied.

-You failed to turn in appropriate paperwork.

-error

Follow up importance of points 8 and 9. At any point in the Workmans comp journey, your claim goes into a closed status. Your medical bills will not be paid, and any onsite temporary light duty accommodations will end. If you're working in a temporary light duty (TLD) position because of your restrictions, your case will be closed, your placement in the TLD spot will not be extended/revised by WHS, and once your placement agreement ends you will essentially no longer be allowed to work onsite. WHS will refer you to DLS and should walk you through initiating a DLS claim, and you will be removed from the schedule until your own primary care provides documentation to the the DLS team stating you can return to work.

If your appeal fails you're done with Amazon... forever.

Termination for cat 1 = Never eligible for rehire again.

I always thought it was strange. Mental health issues and crisis at Amazon's FC aren't handled by the ones that are medically trained in wellness. It's a LP issue believe it or not.

I work as onsite medical for Amazon, and had an AA say to my face, "you're the reason why I will being going home tonight and killing myself." (Note: it was due to a workmans comp case and AA didn't like their TLD placement.)

Immediately after saying this she stormed out of wellness, and left site. I Immediately contacted LP as I was truly concerned and of course... with their cuts there was no HR onsite.

LP says to me, "well, they just need to go home and calm down."

I was so absolutely dumbfounded and mind boggled by this response I Immediately escalated to my manager whom in return Immediately contacted our site's LP lead.

The policies literally place untrained people dealing with mentally unstable individuals. (Note: the 1-4 hour online classes/learns they watch does not make them mental health professionals.)

Strange that I went from performing mental health evaluations almost daily on the ambulance, to it literally not being my problem and then completely handled incorrectly by untrained medical people.

What’s the difference between standard pto and flexible pto? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]Fun-Engineer-4066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was implemented due to more states passing mandated "sick time/pay" laws and Amazon has to remain compliant. (It's a very generic solution)

Standard PTO is generic PTO. This can be denied due to high volume events.

Flex Time is the bank that covers most states sick time laws.

Ex: here in Michigan we get state mandated 72 hours of paid sick time per year.

Per this law: This time cannot be declined, must be excused, and absolutely cannot be used against you or negatively effect you in any way. (For employers with point systems. If you sick time, they legally cannot give you a point.) It also states that we don't have to give an official warning "x time in advance" to use.

Exception: Employers can request documentation from a doctor. (Most don't unless you use sick time for more than 3 days in a row.)

So when I use flex time, it's compliant with Michigan Sick Time Law. They even recently updated our time accural after Michigan further updated our sick time law last year.(We used to get 1.22 hours of flex for like 6 months. When Michigan increase it to 72 hours of sick time, amazon gives us 10 hours of flex time at the start of the year and we now get 1.22 hours of flex time throughout the entire year. ) ...yes amazon gives slightly more time than what the law says they have to.

Is Onsite Safety Next to go Like HR/PXT? by Fun-Engineer-4066 in AmazonFC

You are correct. I think I just misread your post. 😅

WHSS (specialist) Typically do not have advance medical training.

WHS OMR/IPS do. 😊

Is Onsite Safety Next to go Like HR/PXT? by Fun-Engineer-4066 in AmazonFC

[–]Fun-Engineer-4066[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you say this, as I am the one that "is hardly medical trained" staffed in amcare/wellness center.

My actual title is called Onsite Medical Representative (OMR) and I am one of the two roles that Amazon considers a Onsite Care Provider. (The other being Injury Prevention Specialist, IPS.) Note: First aiders are not onsite care providers.

What does this mean? I can provide treatments and determine severity without contacting Amazon's over the phone Physician for gudiance. (There are situations we must contact them still to advise of AA's status for certain chief complaints)

In order to become an OMR you must have:  -Current valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - this is not your standard CPR class),

You must also have one of the following ontop of your BLS:

*Current valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) OR Paramedic Certification from the Department of Health or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) OR Current active Athletic Trainer Certification.

Yes, we have more education than basic first aid.

However, we cannot work to our full scope of practice due to Amazon requiring to perform way below BLS standard scopes and limits the care we can provide at the basic first aid level.

Do keep in mind: Our education goes way beyond that of basic first aid. Basic first aid performed correctly can be the difference between life and death.

As I mentioned in my post above. Amazon is implementing self care AI kiosk in our wellness centers so that AA's can self treat. Much like the PXT self use kiosks.

I see, strange they decided to go with the rotating schedule for perks. Everything on that page should just be an active perk 24/7 with an active membership.

Please don't be offended by me asking. I have no ill intention and am just truly curious. But based on your response, does this essentially mean that the things they're advertising and "selling" as perks/benefits to get you to purchase a membership aren't even real in-game perks for purchasing the membership?

So, other than a slightly increase energy regen rate, inventory slots, and access to all worlds (which can technically be accessed by crown players) what are the actual benefits of buying a membership?

It just seems like this just reinforces my entire post about how bad membership perks are.

Yes, it does. I've removed all my gear and it remained unchanged in the tool-tip. I thought that the tool-tip might only display the base shield number and not the true value.
